You will never see little georgie or that dick, cheney singing this song. Their favorite song is “Fixin’ to Die Rag”.

mroberts88 said, 3 months ago
Buzzy, I hope you understand I was being sarcastic, if not, wow. If so, thats what I was implying. I have said it before, we cant be overly militaristic right now. If we sent soldiers into places that didnt agree with us, we would have soldiers in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and N. Korea. That doesnt even include if we were to send troops to help quell the Mexican drug violence. You are not going to win all of those wars. There is a time for action, and a time to be diplomatic. Fighting two wars is expensive, let alone two other fronts, as well as a possible restore peace mission in Mexico.

I see this is just another gathering of anti-American, commie commenters who hate “State of the Union” and have to come here each and every day to let us all know that instead of just staying away…
Disgusting!

^ Anti-American is having a Hamadryas baboon as your representative icon. It is an African animal.
I think your passing up on a representative North American animal is akin to throwing the US flag onto that fire! Shame on you!

mindfulwalker said, 3 months ago
sweet, Lewreader, no doubt. Ithink we are all nuts, after all when do we actually realize that being far left or far right ever takes into concideration there actions what is so wrong with bringing common sense into the pollitical arena . I find it dishearting that we spend so much time and money(taxpayer money on slamming each other than working for the common good of America, to the left; not everything green is good. to the right god goes by many names and appearences just because mine does look or have the same name doesnt mean i am wrong just different. Anyway whats wrong with being human and trying something different remember to all who put religon at the top none of the prophits were money motivated

Wow, the sad thing is Obama believes this kind of hype. Let’s just rename the terrorist and the bombing they do to a man made bad thing. Next let’s go over there 1st thing after being sworn in. Apologize Apologize Apologize..
Then the world will love us because Obama is our president.
Next up give away as much money as he can to the car union people, banks that gave money to Acorn, ect… they will like him now. And if that does not work let’s give our health care system over to the loony lefts house wish list. Then they will like him.
johnking said, 3 months ago
The sad thing is that Obama, the pretended disciple of peace, is ramping up the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
While he does, the pretended anti-war movement here is by its silence making clear that it was never anything but anti-Bush. What shameless hypocrites you lefties are in defending Obama!

We are entering a realm where reality is suspended, a place where down is up and up is down. We are re-entering the Carter Doctrine in foreign relations where you undermine and leave your allies hanging out to dry and where you bend over backwards to appease your enemies.

mytinytown - Re: “Cool, have fun in the mountains, been to WV a few times…”
Thanks - had a great time in Northern California Mountains! Had lunch yesterday at 7810 feet - clear blue sky & overlooking distant mountain ranges - hope to go back next week if my friend can get the time off from work.
As for today’s SOTU - Boring.
Back to the Garden to see what vegetable delights have ripened since I was gone.

I’m feeling philosophical today & since this is a 2 day ‘toon - here’s what I’m pondering watering my garden & enjoying fresh tomatoes & cucumbers & figs….
Is Peace Too Boring To Be Sustainable?
One of my favorite tunes from the 60’s: “War” by Edwin Star (1969) Original Video via YouTube:

satipera4 Hummmm, be bored - Yes.
Get shot at? Can happen in Nature with all those maniac hunters shooting at anything that moves (gee officer, I though it was a deer or bear or something - not my best friend).
“All I Am Saying, Is Give Peace A Chance”…. now I’ve got that tune running in my head - ;-)) I’ve always liked it!

satipera4 - I know what U mean… And I know there are alot of ”MEAN’ people (women & men) who are all too trigger happy to take out any who disagree. I understand the necessity of “Appearing Well Armed” as it’s been known as “Peace Keepers” (term from the Reagan Era). But That So 20th Century Mind Set that doesn’t give much hope for the Future (ie Children)…
My favorite line out of an old John Lennon tune “Imagine…There’s No Religion… ”
Religion has been ONE of the Biggest Instigators of WAR over the Centuries. War Over Oil (ie Iraq, et al) is a 20th Century creation.
There was much HOPE December 31, 1999 that the mindset of the New Century Generation would be able to “REAL-IZE” Peace Thru Understanding (instead of strength). Dialogue Instead Of Bullets (or worse).

Nancy, how am I anti-american? Is it because I want America to be more diplomatic, instead of starting multiple costly wars? Or is it that I dont agree fully and completely with the government, or the U.S.?

Sounds like something Rod Serling would say:
You’re traveling through another dimension. It lies between the pit of man’s fears and the summit of his knowledge. That’s the signpost up ahead. Your next stop: the Twilight Zone.
mroberts88 said, 3 months ago
Shaliach, and jmworacle, I was thinking about the fact that me may just be in the twilight zone, or Futuramas version, The Scary Door.
johnking said, 3 months ago
Tigger, your ridiculing of our changing attitudes to earlier foes and allies makes little sense. In 1945 we fought Germany as allies of the USSR. 3 years later we were defending Germany against the USSR. So what? In those two time frames we behaved responsibly given the circumstances (not to excuse FDR’s childish faith in Stalin’s good will).
Allies and enemies have always been transient designations for every country, and with good reason.

Peace had a chance.
Let’s take a little bit of historical inventory shall we?
We nuke Japan and they spend the next 50 years buying our Levi’s jeans and Coca Cola and have a pretty serious case of America-envy as well. They embrace capitalism and then sell us some great cars and electronics. Nobody says a word about reparations.
We grovel at the feet of a bunch of goddamned Islamofascists and they burn the midnight oil trying to build nuclear weapons to eliminate us from the face of the Earth for all time.
What’s the better strategy?
EScott2U said, 3 months ago
Let me expand on my argument using two popular dumbshit hippie expressions:
If WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER how do you propose we FREE TIBET? 50 years later, Tibet is not free. Heck, it’s not even Tibet anymore. Perhaps a full scale military operation would have ended the oppression 45 years ago?
mroberts88 said, 3 months ago
So Scott, because some other nation doesnt agree with us, we should send in the military? I’m not sure if you know this or not, but every nation that has nukes, has enough to kill off humanity several times over.
If I’m wrong, and I may be, China owns Tibet, China has the largest standing army. If we attack Tibet, there will be a buttload of casualties, even if we threw out every available soldier, the Chinese would outnumber us at least 10-1. We would have to declare a draft looooong before China has to worry about using reserves.
So what you are saying is that we should use alot of resources on a war we would probably lose? We need to be diplomatic, or else we will lose resources.

TROLL ALERT EScott2U IS BACK - testing out how many cuss words he/she/it can fling like a bunch of cow patties. Now would be a good time to “Duck & Cover” your ears.
Here’s a *Lesson on BAITING:
Throw in a couple of Swear Words along with a Rant about Killing a Bunch “Oppressors” and U Get Another “WAR”.
Here it is a War Of Words - Out in the REAL WORLD - It may deteriorate to…. Well U Know – without the need for words…
TOO BAD U Killed Off Some Of The People U Were TRYING To LIBERATE with your example about Tibet… Some Help U R - Doofus Butt.
Thanks EScott2U for giving the Audience of 20531 Subscribers to SOTU an excellent example of Warmonger-ing
”All We Are Saying – Is Give Peace A Chance’
Just think of all the $$ we would save not having to spend it Destroying AND THEN Repairing All The Damage The Warmongers Created - to the Soldiers, Civilians, Homes, Etc… Excellent way to Reduce Health Care Costs for the World!
Tibet is the Concern of Tibetan People & The Dalai Lama. Peace In Action as an Example to the World…Many Blessing to Them All.

50 Though, in reviewing the incidents of my administration, I am unconscious of intentional error, I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many errors. Whatever they may be, I fervently beseech the Almighty to avert or mitigate the evils to which they may tend. I shall also carry with me the hope, that my Country will never cease to view them with indulgence; and that, after forty-five years of my life dedicated to its service with an upright zeal, the faults of incompetent abilities will be consigned to oblivion, as myself must soon be to the mansions of rest.
51 Relying on its kindness in this as in other things, and actuated by that fervent love towards it, which is so natural to a man, who views it in the native soil of himself and his progenitors for several generations; I anticipate with pleasing expectation that retreat, in which I promise myself to realize, without alloy, the sweet enjoyment of partaking, in the midst of my fellow-citizens, the benign influence of good laws under a free government, the ever favorite object of my heart, and the happy reward, as I trust, of our mutual cares, labors, and dangers.

EScott2U, you want to liberate Tibet, and you use history to back up your claim. Here are two reasons we shouldnt invade Tibet.
1.Vietnam-That war, which was the only war we had going on at that time that involved U.S. troops, was a quagmire, and cost 50,000 casualties, on the U.S. alone. It became very unpopular, and South Vietnam, the country we were protecting, lost the war.
2.Korea- We had the N. Koreans backed up to about China, then the Chinese got involved militarily. We are still considered at war with N. Korea, as no peace agreement was ever reached, only a ceasefire.
