Obama has adopted with only minor modifications huge swaths of the entire, allegedly lawless, Bush program.
During the 2008 campaign, Obama denounced them repeatedly, calling them an “enormous failure.” He suspended them upon his swearing-in. Now they’re back.

All of this is evident in the now famous Obama three-step: (a) excoriate the Bush policy, (b) ostentatiously unveil cosmetic changes, (c) adopt the Bush policy.

People up and down the left side of the political spectrum are stunned by how much of the Bush national security agenda is being adopted by Mr. Morally Pure - the Patriot Act, wiretaps, e-mail intercepts, military tribunals, Predator drone attacks, Iraq (i.e., slowing the withdrawal), Afghanistan (i.e., the surge).

The genius of democracy is that the handing off of power forces the opposition to come to its senses when it takes over. The Bush policies in the war on terror won’t have to await vindication by historians. Obama is doing it day by day. He can deny it all he wants. Just look at his deeds.

How charming, Mike Stanfill (aka FLS) can make jokes, and be obnoxious all he wants because it’s just a joke; but when anyone else makes a joke or a comment he’s right there ridiculing them and insulting anyone who doesn’t agree with him by calling them racist, stupid, ignorant and being his usual obnoxious self.

Keep it up Mikey, as the primary joke of SOTU, the first to post and spew you’re wiki-news, your bigotry is making everyone else look mighty good.

Sorry Mark, your Pro-abortion liberal rant will have to take second place to Mike’s self-righteous bigotry. He’s an embarrasment to liberals and wouldn’t make a pimple on Hillery’s hiney.

For an example of his bigotry and stupidity to the depths most cannot even fathom: http://www.farleftside.com/

Yeah Mike, I look at your crappy little toon to see how just how immature your ego really is. Sad, so sad. A shame your mom never got around to that procedure Mark is always talking about. Sorry Mark, I realize mentioning you along with Mikey is a real insult, but some men can handle it. Mikey on the other hand will have to pop off in retaliation and make another hiney of himself. They say things are bigger in Texas, North Dallas Redneck cartoonists come to mind.

With one correction–the Obama White House no longer makes reference to the war on terror.

Nor are we fighting a global war against jihadists.

We are more precisely, says the White House, at war with al Qaeda.

I have no problem with that as it should have been our focus all along. George Bush dropped the ball big time.

When bin Laden was trapped in the Tora Bora mountains, the United States had the means–but not the will–to finish the job right then and there.

Iraq became a diversion when Bush decided that bin Laden was no longer a necessary target.

Meantime, a UK general says it will take 40 years to finish the job in Afghanistan.

We should have dropped a tactical bunker buster on bin Laden’s arse in 2001 and ended it then.

Farleftside, anything “The Benevolent One” elects to do is deemed just and good by the main stream media.

As far as saying “We are no longer fighting a war on terror”,

    rubs hands together Good, good.

Now as for the strip. Anything Obama does, is good, according to the media, except Fox News. This is not good, because now the president can do whatever he wants, and nobody is going to say anything against it, outside of Fox News.
The Patriot Act was illegal, and unconstitutional. The only reason it was pushed through was because of fear.

Obamas idea of socialized health care is horrible. It will only be for those of us not in government. Cant wait until 2012.

From MarkTrail, earlier today - Let’s review liberal “values.”

Thanks Mark, for the list. It made me think, which I suppose is what you wanted. As someone you’d probably label a liberal I’ve made a few notes.

1.) Kill children in the womb.
I’m against abortion. But I feel there needs to be an option for cases like rape, incest and so on. I also want a strong program of sex education in our schools. I want our children to know how to avoid having babies of their own.

2.) Encourage men to make love to men.
I won’t say I encourage it. But it’s none of my business and would rather not be involved. I guess I’m a liberal because I won’t actually discourage either.

    3.) Anti-God.
Sorry. I’m all for God. I’m proud of God, and love Him very much. I’m so proud of him I don’t want him tainted by the liars, thieves and Pharisees in my government. I don’t want my government officials to take an oath on the Bible that they’re going to lie about anyway. They should follow the example of President John Adams and swear on the Constitution. I’ve been taught money is the root of all evil and I don’t really want my God’s name on it. Oh, and I think you ought to be able to worship God as you see fit without my bothering you.

    4.) Anti-honor.
I find it insulting that because I disagree with you, you feel I have no honor. Where is your honor, Sir? I’m ok until I disagree with you? Then I have no honor? Maybe I should worship you then. It sounds as if you have declared yourself the authority on what is right or wrong, American or Un-American. There is no honor in that.

5.) Anti-military. Reduce military spending. Oppose any effort to help people in the world… i.e. Iraqi’s.
My entire family is either in the military or retired. You could almost call it the family business. Why? Because it is secure. We in the military know they aren’t going to cut spending. It pays my retirement, health care for my family, it paid for my education, it is paying for my sons. My oldest son is in Afghanistan and I know he’s part of the best equipped, most deadly Army in the world. The only ones who say otherwise just don’t know what the heck they’re talking about.

6.) Not be bothered with military setbacks and encourage insurgents.
This is just a blanket comment with no supporting facts given. The current administration is every bit as bothered by military setbacks as the former. The encouragement is insurgents comment puzzles me. Sending tens of thousands of troops to Afghanistan probably sends little in the way of an encouraging signal to the Taliban. Are you talking about Iraq? Our war there is over. It’s up to them now to fight their own insurgents. We’ll provide aid, but it’s up to them to deal with the insurgents.

7.) Urge massive taxes for people.
Yeah, this one bothers me too. But to be honest, I don’t see any realistic threat of it. I see a lot of screaming, accusations and hand-wringing on the part of the Republicans but so far I haven’t seen Congress take any action on doing this. Are we accusing them of something they MIGHT do? That doesn’t make sense.

8.) The faith a liberal doesn’t put in God, they will put in big government and government programs, which traditionally don’t work.
As we’ve seen government deregulation doesn’t work either. And what does this have to do with faith in God? A person thinks that we should have a government health care policy which offers care to the poor means they have no faith in God? This is insulting and untrue. I know that there is a danger of abuse in a blanket federal health care policy. But I see dozens of children in my classroom everyday who are not getting needed medical treatment because their parents don’t have health insurance. It is my faith in God which gives me hope that as a nation we will do something to help these kids. We can do this, and it’s a sin if we do not.

9.) Oppose free speech… especially for people who speak out against Marxist disciple Barack Obama.
I’ve got no problem with you exercising your right to free speech. Sure hope you return the favor. Let me give you some advice though. It’d be a whole lot easier to take you seriously if you didn’t use words like “Marxist disciple”. You tell me a information and back it up with facts and you’ve got a good chance of persuading me. You call someone a bunch of names and use a bunch of scary words to intimidate me and I’ll probably just think you’re a kook.

    10.) Oppose free enterprise.
You’ll need to be more specific. I agree, there is tons of regulation out there on business. Most of it is ridiculous. Some of it does actually help. Most regulation is pushed through Congress by lobbyists trying to enhance their own position anyway, to eliminate competition. Look at what William Randolph Hearst did, to build his empire. You can’t really put this on the liberals, Marko.
Our whole economic system and way of doing business is terminally ill, infected by BOTH liberals and conservatives. Certain principles simply don’t work anymore. Take the law of supply and demand and examine how it relates to the price of a gallon of gas. The price of a barrel of crude drops, the price at the pump stays the same. The price of a barrel of crude goes up slightly, the price at the pump jumps ten cents, an increase of like five percent. Does this make sense? Last year the prices of consumer goods increased dramatically, due to the increase in cost of fuel. This year the cost of fuel dropped by nearly 25% but the price of consumer goods has remained constant, or increased. Look how much a meal at McDonalds costs compared to a year ago. The system is broke and needs to be fixed. We’re not going to fix it by calling each other names.

11.) Rewrite American history - where America is seen as a terrible nation.
I teach American history, America has done terrible things. I don’t say that we’re a terrible nation though. Maybe troubled, but not terrible. Saying anything else is simply revisionist and dishonest. Our greatness lies in our ability to admit we’re not perfect and our willingness to improve. I teach my students both the good and bad of our history and make sure that they understand that the bad is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. It must be acknowledged and we must make sure that it never happens again.

12.) And make sure normal Americans, aka non-liberals, have to pay for repugnant government policies, i.e. killing children in the womb.. (See liberal value No. 1.)
I find the implication that liberals are not normal Americans repugnant and insulting. If I were of a solid conservative background I would feel the same way. It is not up to you to decide what is or is not normal behavior for an American.
Any person who feels so strongly about abortion should refuse to pay taxes. Otherwise they’re just a hypocrite. All talk, no action. Refuse to pay your taxes. Make an issue of it. Become a symbol for the rest of us. Perhaps your sacrifice will convince enough people that they will join you. Bombing abortion clinics is just as bad as abortion and makes you a hypocrite.
Mark, the only way to get rid of abortion is to amend the Constitution, and that is not going to happen on this issue. Most Republicans in government don’t honestly care. Not like you obviously do. They sure don’t care enough to do anything about it. They just like the issue because it divides them from the Democrats and makes people like you vote for them. The are hypocrites Mark, and they betray you everyday. If they weren’t they would be doing something about it, but they don’t. They just let it go on and on and more babies die.
At least some of the Democrats are honest in what they believe. They truly believe it is a woman’s right to chose and that it should be a private issue. All I know is I am not wise enough to solve this problem. Each man must make his own decision and do what his heart tells him.

@DavidDow - Sorry man, I know, I discussed abortion again. But at least I didn’t mention Dred Scott. Better?

Marktrail - Thanks for taking it the way it was meant, not an attack, just some thoughts.

I’ve got to agree with you, some liberals do behave poorly. But for every liberal, or conservative for that matter, acting like a fool at a rally or something there are 100 that are trying to do the right thing. The problem is Glen Beck, or CNN, don’t show the ones behaving properly. It’s hard to get ratings or stir up emotions with a headline that reads “Liberal protesters are polite at Pro-Life Rally”.

About Bill Maher - I dislike the guy. His smug, “I’m smarter and better than you are” attitude just pisses people off. Anyone who acts like you’re ignorant because you disagree with him shouildnt be in th media business. That goes both ways, conservative or liberals. Maher is just trying to get ratings and sell books. Sorry, I feel the same way about Beck and LImbaugh as well.
