If Mary and James (Whose father was a Roswell alien.) can marry, then why can’t I marry a clone of my mother, my dead dog, my grandfather and three Mormons in a group ceremony between me than them?
This discrimination stuff is awful!!!! Common sense should be outlawed. All views should be politically correct. Word definitions should be changed monthly or weekly. All politicians and gods are correct and your views are absolutely right for the whole world! Only talk to people who agree with you. Remember you are right and “they” are wrong. Blah, blah, blah, & ETC………………………………..

As gay marriage takes hold and becomes the law of the land everywhere (which it will), anyone who advocates marriage between a man and a woman will be morally regarded the same as a racist. And soon it will be a hate crime.
Indeed – and this is the ultimate goal of many of the same-sex marriage activists – the terms “male” and “female,” “man” and “woman” will gradually lose their significance. They already are. On the intellectual and cultural left, “male” and “female” are deemed social constructs that have little meaning. That is why same-sex marriage advocates argue that children have no need for both a mother and a father – the sexes are interchangeable. Whatever a father can do a second mother can do. Whatever a mother can do, a second father can do.
And what will happen after divorce – which presumably will occur at the same rates as heterosexual divorce? A boy raised by two lesbian mothers who divorce and remarry will then have four mothers and no father.
After gay marriage is legalized, why not the legalization of polygamy? Three people who just love each other should be allowed to form a family, shouldn’t they?
People who argue that gay marriage will not diminish the importance of the nuclear family or significantly change for the worse the fundamental nature of the family in our culture are either ignorant, or they are lying.

So a ”Civil-Union” is the politically correct term for same-sex marriage?

We are lucky we have trusted politicians to decide this question. As my mother said, “Those men wouldn’t be in Washington if they didn’t know what they were doing.”Or as my father said, “%@#&!! politicians!” Glad I could listen to both.

Yes I agree we have no way to tell how any of us will act IF it happens. I pray it will not happen, but if it does we are prepared. The founding fathers were a how lot smarter then anyone in our current government and knew what they were doing.
As well read a bit of the battle you and satipera had yesterday. Caught what he said about the late Mr. Heston. Does not surprise me at all after reading some he posted some time ago about another poster here. Out of respect for both parties I’ll leave it at that.

There are so many people I listen to blab about how “Obama’s got to have somthing under his sleeve, his public speaking skills are TO good”
Try to understand it’s not an act, he probably just paid attention in school, unlike our past unintelligable president.

Emptied the US? What in the world are you talking about?
Are you talking about how much he spent? If so, are your OK with the TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS MORE Obama has blindly borrowed and printed? Obama has done nothing for our country expect to bankrupt it and make our money worth about as much as dirt.

Good to see this as your opinion. HE READS A TELEPROMPTER, takes only reading skills, nothing more to do this. As well glad to see you think all our past presidents were unintelligible. Or was Clinton and Carter exceptions?

mytinytown - Re: “Emptied the US”. Try Googling to find out what’s being written about if U R NOT familiar with the subject.
“Emptied the US” reminds me of something I read a few years ago so I Googled: Money Missing In iraq
This is from the Google Page from an article published by “The American Conservative”
“Oct 24, 2005 … Most of the money was flown into Iraq on C-130s in huge plastic shrink-wrapped pallets …. and more that $7 million in cash was missing…”
There’s other articles by CBS, CNN, MSNBC & even
FOXNEWS! This is from the Google page foxnews article:
“Aug 20, 2004 … Audit Shows $8.8B Missing in Iraq, Three Democratic senators want … will show that at least $8.8 billion in Iraqi money that was given to …”
BTW - Re: “Obama has done nothing for our country expect to bankrupt it and make our money worth about as much as dirt.”
Much has been said regarding the Bush-Cheney & Friends responsible for the Financial Meltdown Mess handed to President Obama. R U Just Being “Stupid” OR Just Being a DittoHead.

If two people want to get married, I say let them. Any type of discrimination is wrong.
tiny, its not that they were smarter, its that they had to fight to get what rights they wrote in the constitution, and those same rights we take for granted.

The real argument against same sex marriage and civil unions is that all people need both sexual and non-sexual relationships. Despite what people believe in our tolerate everything culture, non-sexual relationships are more important then sexual. Look at your own lives. Your parents, your siblings, your cousins, your first girl or boy friends these should all be non-sexual although maybe little with the girl or boy friend.
Later you have work relationships were you must function as non-sexual on a daily bases. With out those working relationships we could not have a functional relationship with our spouses to raise children. So although your relationship with your spouse should be the most important single relationship, it isn’t even sex that makes it the most important.
If I have to tell you yes sex is important well here you go.
When these things break down, what do we have left; that guy in Austria who raped his daughter for over half her life and one of his own children from that union. Or all these school teachers sleeping with their students I don’t even know how many there have been in the news now. I don’t want to live in a society that is so centered on self that people want to give others so many rights so they can do anything. What that society really wants is to say leave me a lone it is none of your business.
The best way for people to balance these issues is with a man a woman and children. The children can live through all these little issues because no mater if they are a girl or a boy they have a Mom and a Dad to learn from. To set examples. So what do you have two non-sexual relationship with two people from day one. From those they learn respect for others other then the sexual.

You probably right, but I still think they were smarter as well.
Hmmmmm…
Maybe not smarter after all, but more honest.

They were smart, anyone who can make a country has to be. They were afraid of the government having too much power, and the USA having to rebel from yet another government.

To the best of my knowledge, no homosexual relationship has ever resulted in an abortion, so Mark Trail should endorse them. What these ‘Comments” need is a monomaniac on some other subject totally unrelated to the day’s strip; for example, a flat-earher.

Ok folks, get it right. Obama is the President of the United States of America. You understand? All you folks who scream and shout about the Constitution help me out here. No where, no where, no where does the President or the US Congress or the Supreme Court of the United States of America have ANYTHING to do with marriage. Nothing. Nowhere do they have the power to regulate marriage laws. This is 100% pure states business. No matter how much they want to by law the federal government cannot do anything about it.
There is a problem though, one everyone conveniently forgets. If someone is married in California they are married in Texas, Wisconsin, Virginia and every other state. This is a fact, this is, like it or not, the law. I’m married to my wife in Kentucky, she’s my wife in every other state. This was the problem when Utah wanted statehood, remember? The US didn’t want plural marriage so they forced Utah to abandon it as a condition of statehood. All the states with gay marriage have already forced gay marriage on the rest of us, like it or not.
If the same sex marriage people were smart they’d have a legally married gay couple from Massachusetts or wherever move to Ohio and demand their rights as a married couple. And then force the courts to acknowledge the reality of the situation..
If you think I’m wrong here the principle has already been proven by the Dred Scott Decision. The slave Dred Scott said that since he once lived in a free state he should actually be free. The US Supreme Court told him that since he was nothing but property in Missouri he was nothing but property in EVERY state, even the so called free states.
All this talk about Obama legalizing gay marriage is stupid. He can’t legalize it any more than he can defy gravity. Politicians count on us being too stupid to know these things. They say things like “I support gay marriage” or “I support higher wages for teachers” but it doesn’t mean a thing since they can’t do anything about it. They simply don’t have the Constitutional authority.
Oh yeah, abortion in on the list of things federal politicians can’t change. This should be a state law, not federal. In my opinion Roe v. Wade is an illegal and unconstitutional decision. But our politicians are cowards and won’t challenge it. And our people are ignorant and won’t demand a Constitutional amendment banning it. Because that is what it would take. Or perhaps the American people are happy with the abortion policy that we have and those against it are nothing but a vocal minority.

Yep, just like how he pretended to be Black, much like Michael Jackson tried to pretend he’s White, but nobody bought that gig! While millions bought into Osama being Black, though he was raised in a White family.
Is Carl saying Osama is pretending to be straight?!?!?

Dypak, you are, yet again, the voice of reason. The good thing about ignorance, is that you can change it.
johnnydoc5 said, 3 months ago
Well put, Dypak. The unfortunate thing about ignorance is that most people who have it don’t know that they suffer from, or are too proud to admit that they do.
mroberts88 said, 3 months ago
Yes, johnnydoc5, that is one of the problems with ignorance, but like I said, it can be changed.

There is an issue here, but Carl Moore blows by it. Any halfway decent cartoonist could’ve found several Obama-skewering punchlines. Why did Moore blow it? In addition, why did he draw James Carville so badly? Without helmet-haired Mary & the names, I’d’ve never guessed who these people were.
FarLefty, your defense of President Obama’s policy on same-sex marriage is weak. Marriage is hardly merely spiritual & symbolic. It is a legal contract, and Obama should come out in favor of it. Before his first term ends, he should work seriously at repealing the so-called “Defense Of Marriage” act & at encouraging states to legalize same-sex marriage. Massachusetts has had it for years now with no ill effects.
Someguy, you are correct that most African-American voters in California voted for Proposition 8, but the percentage was 75%, not 90%, and I’m not sure what your point is.
When you get a real argument, Ussot., then please contribute.
Sable, same-sex marriage hardly harms heterosexual marriage. The rest of your claims are equally baseless although your extension of legalization toward polygamy makes the argument FOR same-sex marriage. Thank you.
TinyT., we have established, repeatedly, that Ronald Reagan, G.H.W. Bush, & Bush-Dick raised the federal debt much more than has Obama. Further, if you care about the federal debt, then your favorite president over the last quarter-century is Bill Clinton, who lowered the debt.
As for Obama’s oratorical skills, TinyT., they transcend those of any president since Reagan. All presidents use teleprompters. Bush-Dick still had problems speaking. He is an unintelligent, incompetent, corrupt man, of whom neither you nor anyone at this forum can say anything good.
TinyT., the missing money in Iraq is well-established. GJJ. mentioned all the different news-services that covered it. My best to your wife & children. I hope that their heads are clean.
Jack, your argument makes no sense. Two homosexuals have the same bonds as do two heterosexuals.
If only, Dypak, you could write more than fifty words without bringing up Dred Scott or abortion. Many married homosexuals live in Ohio. There is no lawsuit, because there is no problem, which is the reason that states’ fears of homosexual marriage are unfounded. As for abortion, the public wants it to remain legal by better than two to one. Although Roe v. Wade isn’t the Supremes best decision, it’s perfectly adequate and is based on sound principles. More importantly, it has been re-affirmed several times. Abortion is legal, because it is constitutional and, all the better, moral & ethical.
I trust that everyone remember the slaughter in Hiroshima today. Contrary to that, I trust that all celebrated the good economic news & the good judicial news: the Senate confirmed Judge Sotomayor. Now, we need Justices Scalia & Kennedy to retire. (I know; I know: I’m not holding my breath.)
DavidDow said, 3 months ago
From August 5th: Dypak, Jimmy Carter hardly had a “lifetime of service in the federal government”. Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon, & G.H.W. Bush, yes. Thanks for your strong analysis of Senator McCain. It’s wrong to state that Obama’s father abandoned him, though. He & his wife divorced, and he decided to return to Kenya.
Wachs, your argument holds no water. It’s apparent that the mainstream media (CNN, FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC) are conservative, MSNBC is less so, but it has plenty of conservative leaning from its corporate ownership.
Artillery, I’m afraid that all your facts are incorrect. Feel free to try again. I trust that you read Dypak’s analysis.
Roberts, don’t open up the “socialism” argument. That is deader than the people in that cartoon. The U.S.A. has an economy that is a mix of socialism & capitalism, and you wouldn’t want it to be purely capitalist.
Nice try, TinyT., to justify the invasion of Iraq, but it has no justification. Associating it with World War II insults all those who lived through those six years and insults everyone’s intelligence. In addition, no one is trying to take away your toys. Just keep the safety on. The surest way to end up with a dead child is to have a gun in the house. My best to your wife.
Thanks, G.J.J., for that citation. It is unconscionable that health-care isn’t universal in the U.S.
Roberts, your pro-gun paranoia is rather pathetic. Rural areas where guns are plentiful are more dangerous than many big cities with gun control. The Second Amendment has plenty of room to limit access to guns. The Second Amendment is hardly as universal as the First Amendment. Furthermore, your information about violent crime is wrong: South Carolina, where everyone has a gun, has the highest violent-crime rate. Indeed, most of the states with high rates of violent crime are those with states with lots of guns and with a penchant for killing their own citizens. Your fantasies about having your gun ready in case an old lady were to be attacked is just that, a fantasy. Shooting into a tussle between a mugger & an old woman is just as likely to hurt the woman as the mugger.
