Proponents of big government spending, notably Paul Krugman and the Keynesians, see the failure of the stimulus package to deliver measurable results not as evidence that the strategy was wrong, but rather that not enough money was placed behind it. They’re advocating yet another stimulus program, equal to or bigger than the last.

That would compound Obama’s mistake and drag the nation even deeper into debt. Borrowing has already pushed beyond the reckless level – the federal deficit is now nearly 12 percent of total economic output.

Printing or borrowing even more money to fund this failed experiment would devalue the dollar and increase the likelihood of devastating inflation.

The president should signal that his No. 1 priority is reviving the economy and set aside those pieces of his agenda – carbon cap-and-trade and health care reform specifically – that carry the serious risk of killing jobs and raising the costs of goods and services.

Particularly, it ought to be clear to everyone that a nation that has squandered more than a trillion dollars on failed stimulus efforts can’t afford the $1.5 trillion10-year price tag for Obama’s health care proposal.

Oh, what the heck, since they’ve spent all this money, what’s another $3 or $4 billion for “cash for clunkers,” the program that instead of paying money to people to dig holes and fill them up again, pays money to people to destroy their cars and buy new ones. Wow! Why didn’t other administrations think of this wonderful policy? Hey, pay people to destroy their couches, their dining sets, their TVs and buy new ones! It workd for cars, why not everything else?

Obama and the Dems have taken fiscal irresponsibility to unprecedented heights. They can’t keep merrily spending like this… or can they?

A bit of advice - sell dollars, buy gold.

Wow Mikey it sounds like you had this planed in advance. Which is kind of strange because your visceral is showing. Like you knew the answer ahead of time like maybe you are Carl Moore.

This is not the way to get people’s attention. And another award winning economist Alan Greenspan remember him says this spending may cause hyper-inflation. Be careful what you ask for. Remember how that helped Carter.

    sablebrush5
Greenspan would agree with you. The cash for all though cash for clunkers isn’t so bad. As long as it gets bigger cars off and smaller cars on and as long as it doesn’t become a permanent dept of govt.

Hope someone is funding all this. I’ve not made enough this year to pay any income tax. Not a leach on society either; no welfare here.

it’s amazing how some people can expect sanity from a nation that makes it legal to arbitrarily kill the unborn.

we truly need a serious revival of high moral standards in order to affect any positive changes in my beloved country.

i wish us well, but i honestly believe things will get much worse before we sober up; and when we do, many of us will be in for a very rude awakening.

Re: “Try the FAIR TAX! ” Oh My g&d! Woke up this AM only to find out now they want to tax “FAIRS”. What…Oh…Not the carnival kind…never mind…

Otherwise same old stuff from marktrail Imposter & now hank197857 is singing the same old song regarding abortion.
Get over it - it’s called “The Morning After Pill” - every fertile woman should talk with their health care provider if “IT” is right for them - other wise “clip & snip” for the boys who can’t keep their zippers closed!
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh - & make a LAW that requires “IT” too!
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh - & provide for “IT” in the Health Care Reform package - just think how much $$ would be saved for people to “spend” on themselves!
Save the Tax payers tons of $$ supporting kids whose folks couldn’t afford to pay for their care till their old enough to provide for themselves.

    Support Family Planning!

To answer your statement. No. When did his policies encourage inflation can you give me an example. The reason why he was chairman for so long is that he kept it under control for over a decade.

You are right, add the entire western world in that statement.

Hey you silly americans, stop whyning!!!! As long as your “Big-American-Country” spends PER DAY!!! more on the militairy than we as a complete country make as gross income a year, (netherlands) there is no reason to feel so obviously sorry for yourselves.
And what the hack has that commentary about abortion to do with the subject on hand??? right nothing, Is this not called, “I don’t know the answer to the problem on hand, so skip to another subject and hope no-ones notices my stupidity”?

I could somewhat agree with you on the morning after pill. But when it comes to anything else, no need.
Not saying you, because I don’t know where you stand, but alot of liberals here think that it is a ok for a rape victim to have an abortion. I think this is a worthy cause for the morning after pill. About the clip and snip, I was about to have it done, no need now for other reasons, but I understand it is $700-$900 done in the Dr. office and 1 Dr. told me a weekend to recover, and take it easy for a week after the other said a week to recover. Very limited if any at all side effects.
I do strongly feel if you want to play, you better be willing to pay.

    jack75287
Both actually, but at least farleft says a little more then I’m right your wrong as HUMP seems to every time he makes a comment.
Or are you suggesting they are 1 in the same?
