Carl must live in an interesting neighborhood, because the guys I’ve seen dressed like that are white.

Oh, c’mon, Satipera, Moore is no more racist than you or I. What’s racist about this cartoon? He’s just pointing out some of the more absurd practices of black culture.
Is there anything more ridiculous than the pants-down-to-the-knees-and-underwear-showing business? It’s so stupid it would be funny if it weren’t taken so seriously by black gangbangers. Bravo to Moore for having the courage to say so publicly.

Oh, sure, after seeing all the love and tolerance you Christians display here and elsewhere, I’ll be SURE to jump on that bandwagon. Or not.
The pants down to the @ss thing is definitely not the Black peoples’ shining moment, and the White pepole who emulate the “fashion” don’t really reflect well on their race either. Or maybe it’s just America as a whole that looks bad.
As an employer, I know that none of my employees are going to be allowed to wear their pants like that; not on the clock, anyway.

A dress code at work? What a racist idea
olfart said, 4 months ago
As long as I can remember, narrow-minded old people have been complaining about the way young people dress. You might want to take a look at your high school yearbook. Baggy pants won’t hurt you. Just ignore it, something worse will come along soon.

Baggy pants have been in style for about 15 years now. This is not a new trend, and most of the kids who are most attached to it are the suburban white kids who think they’re urban black gangstas. (When I was younger we called them Ja-fake-ins)
LibrarianInTraining said, 4 months ago
I’ve seen white guys, black guys, hispanic guys, all dressed like that.
I don’t care who you are. It looks stupid. No one wants to see your underwear!!!
Sheila said, 4 months ago
Married to a black guy and even I see where this is going. He IS making a comment on how SOME blacks like to play a race card if they don’t get something. My hubby and I talk about that a lot. As for the pants, Blacks started that trend and yes, Whites and Latinos wear them like that now, but again, they started that. I think they it is stupid to wear them baggy, but it is not me wearing them, nor my children. If kids want to look stupid, fine. They’ll look back when the trend changes and laugh, like I do with big hair, 20 Swatch Watches on one wrist and Day-Glo anything.

@LibrarianIn: I agree with you -
Wouldn’t u get our facts rights, and instead if thinking who started this, find out why and how the style got started in the first place?
And when you do find that out, see what race started it!
Paudil said, 4 months ago
I suppose it depends what position you’re applying for, but to me the biggest thing that would keep me from hiring someone is how they speak. If they can’t properly articulate in English, and with an accent such that I can understand them, I wouldn’t hire them.
mroberts88 said, 4 months ago
It MUST be racism, it has nothing to do with how you dress, or talk. I dont really mind the baggy pants thing, I just dont like seeing guys underwear. In case anyones interested, having your pants below your underwear is a prison thing, it means your someones property.
johnnydoc5 said, 4 months ago
I like how some people who dress like that seem to enjoy the thought that they could be in a gang, and they have no idea how horrible it can be in reality. Not everyone does, but enough do that make me laugh.
Nobody said, 4 months ago
That is so true, made me laugh, Carl. They dress like a FOOL, they act like a FOOL, they’ll be treated like a FOOL.
I may be mistaken, but I think I heard that trend started in prison?
mroberts88 said, 4 months ago
Nobody, it did, it means your someones property.

And they are proud of that?? Another problem with the drooppydrawers is that they only have one hand to “work” with the other is usually holding up the pants by the crotch so they can walk.
mroberts88 said, 4 months ago
oldlegodad, apparently they are, but not alot of people know where that came from apparently.

They walk funny when they dress like that so they can keep their pants from falling down. Funny thing is, it looks like they have diaper rash.
rainman5353 said, 4 months ago
It makes it difficult for them to run from the police, and hilarious when they get caught.

I’ve heard rumors that Men who wear their Pants in this fasion are ‘advertising’ something
LibrarianInTraining said, 4 months ago
Tigger, it has come to mean that as of late, but the others are right. It stared as a prison thing. Not only does it mean you’re someone else’s property, but it allows for “easy access” if you know what I mean.

“Satipera: I wonder if Moore would vote for a black republican? Each dodgy racist cartoon he produces could be defended on their own, but when taken together it is much harder to do.”
Do you agree with me that Clarence Thomas is our deepest thinking finest Supreme Court Justice? If not does that make you racist?

“They” are the ones that wear their pants that way. “They” are African-American, Mexican-American and American. “They” are gangsters and/or wannabes.
I agree with L.I.T. too.
rainman5353 said, 4 months ago
Mathew, “they” are those who wear their pants in this fashion. Why do you pretend that you don’t know who “they” are? One of them is my son. He has worked fairly steadily while in school, and graduated on time. He took a full time job after graduating, moved in with a classmate who did not have a good home, (and lived with us much of his last two years of high school) worked his way into a managers position within his company, and owns a Pontiac Sunfire, along with a 94 Mustang GT. He is smart enough to dress “right” for interviews, and while on the job. We are very proud of him. Our youngest is starting to wear his pants in the same fashion. He starts high school next year with a 3.9 GPA, and has been on the Honor Roll three yrs. straight. He wants to be a veterinarin. We believe he will be successful in anything he wants to do. We are very proud of him also.
Seldom will you get a job NOT base on your appearance and actions during an interview!
KAKKAROT1701 said, 4 months ago
Actually, the trend started in prison as a signal the wearer was available for sex, just those who emulate it willfully ignore it. Another shameful trend of the ‘alleged’ hip-hop culture which celebrates thuggish behavior and glamorizes criminality perpetuating a victim mentality.
olfart said, 4 months ago
It has nothing to do with prison or property. That idea was wishful thinking on the part of haters who haven’t been to prison. It started in county jails where they take your belt and shoelaces at in-processing. Younger gang members would emulate the appearance of their elders upon making bail. Stupid and pathetic, but nobody’s business. However, anyone who goes to a job interview dressed like that is an unemployable idiot!

Matthew, I just lumped all the rest of the dudes together that I’ve seen with their pants sagging together. Could be Irish, Scottish, Japanese, etc, etc.
Point is, I’ve seen dudes from all over sagging. I don’t know how this started and I don’t care. I’m just really tired of seeing too much of what I do not want to see.
mroberts88 said, 4 months ago
Matt, I got it from a former corrections officer from TDCJ (Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice), if you dont know, a corrections officer is a low ranking prison guard. “They” is anyone who wears their pants where anyone can see their underwear, my fault, my first post was sarcasm, I was saying that if you dress like that, expect to have a low probability of being hired, and matt, you don’t know me from homeless hank, I would exactly go around saying whether or not someone should be hired based on one post, from the internet, when you have never met, or even had a conversation with me, but hey, whatever makes you feel big.

MatthenJB, our comics old geezer know-it-all, who loves to shove his opinion down the throats of everyone else, with his nose in the air and dripping snarky arrogance.
You’d think that a high school drop out and life long welfare parasite would have a little more humility.
mroberts88 said, 4 months ago
Ok MatthewJB, that still doesnt answer my question of what makes you think i shouldnt have a job?
stebon said, 4 months ago
Good job, Carl! The problem is that no one got the point you were trying to make.
It is that employers should have the right to hire whoever will enhance their business success.
Hiring people to fulfill some utopian idea of fairness without regard to a business’s clientel is not only ridiculous, but has proven to be totally unfair and detrimental.
Why would any retailer hire someone who dressed like a “gangbanger” to sell anything to the general public?
Keep the faith, Carl, regardless of the liberal insanity.
mroberts88 said, 4 months ago
Matthew, I know people who have jobs in which people should be able to speak english fluently, the people who have thos jobs, can barely speak it. I’m from Texas, ALOT of people cannot speak a complete sentence of english, but they all have jobs. Times change, although this is the first time I’ve heard of Paudils rules, that one rule seems a little out dated.

Matthew, Thanks, I didn’t feel like typing all that out and you just did it for me.
rainman5353 said, 4 months ago
MathewAH, I didn’t say that my sons, in particular, have had to run from the police. Go back and read it again. You should watch a couple episodes of Cops. You will see guys with sagging pants assisting the police and others running from the police. The point I made, which was clear to everyone but you, was that wearing your pants sagging around your friends and in casual settings is ok with me. But don’t dress like that while trying to gain employment, especially jobs dealing with the public, then cry racism when you are rejected. Success comes to those who represents their employer with a positive image. I’m sure you can twist this into something else completly out of context also.
tizzo said, 4 months ago
First, it’s not about wearing them baggy, it’s about wearing them not all the way on. Baggy pants just means that they are too big, but properly cinched with a belt they remain at the waist and cover your underwear.
To slug_queen, regarding the fact that white people dress like that too – that is exactly the point. People seeking a job, particularly a public-facing job such as retail, are not going to get hired regardless of their race. That’s what makes the character’s attribution of his would-be employer’s decision not to hire him to racism something worthy of cartoon ridicule.
