   This tragic situation has nothing to do with abortion, and everything to do with a young woman who has mental problems and a greedy doctor who has no ethical principles.

   marktrail: nice selective history you’ve got going on there. It wasn’t the “Democratic” party that supported slavery, but the Southern Democrats, who split with the Northern Democrats over the issue.

   And the Republican Party that emerged, and which Pres. Lincoln was a member of, has little resemblance to the Republican party that exists today. The Northern Republican abandoned the slavery issue after the war, and focused on business interests while leaving the race issue to the South, dominated by Southern Democrats.

   It’s a lot more complicated than your sophomoric “Democrats supported slavery.” Today’s Republicans are so often more concerned about a clump of cells with no brain activity (sounds like our last president) than living people and the problems they are dealing with.

   And of course, today’s Democrats are more concerned about helping everyone survive, but if they actually start to succeed, then they want to tax them back to failure.

   Not really, it was a few people, including her mom that told her to kill some off.

   Yes this si very true, but the same goes for the democratic party.

   Ouch, these clumps have a soul, what about that? As well as a separate living being? BUT to support your argument, do you also feel once the brain activity is there is it it’s own being?
   I will say I do not at all agree with this woman or the Doc there did it. This should be left for STABLE people who want a kid or 2 that have a tough time getting pregnant. But the bigger picture here it is none of our business.

   This seems a little harsh on Octo-Granny. I’ve seen nothing in the news coverage I couldn’t avoid that would indicate she did anything that blameworthy.

   As for the anti-abortion rants here–this is why despite my pro-capitalism, pro-freedom, anti-socialism position, I do NOT allow myself to be called a conservative. It’s also why the Republicans won’t have a hope until they purge from the party the religious nuts who think that Adam and Eve romped with dinosaurs.

    If someone wants to have a dozen kids without any means to support them, let her! What are you? A bunch of fascists? On the other hand if a woman feels she can’t handle being a mother no one should force her to have it if she doesnt want it. Pro-choice means all the way around. I can choose to have ten kids, or none. It is my choice.

    Like you said Dypak, they have a choice to have ten kids or none … but that doesn’t give them the right to kill inocent babies. If you don’t want children don’t sleep around its not that difficult of a solution.

    Oh and by the way farleftside, you can stop mud-slinging considering your only doing it cause your side of the argument has no justification to put up against pro-lifers like myself.

    Will the Octamom be able to finance the raising of her 14 kids with the money she’ll make from companies and products she’ll be asked to endorse and speak for? Or is she too tainted now to attract corporate sponsors? It will be interesting to see. I’ve heard some advertising people say she’ll make a ton of money eventually, and others who say she won’t make anything. Should I root for her to make money in this way for the sake of her kids and us taxpayers? Or should I hope she doesn’t make a dime in order to serve as an negative example for other emotionally needy women contemplating the same sort of fertility explosion? It’s not clear. The jury is still out on this one.
