And what pray tell, are the qualifications for senator? The current Pres. is a failure at all he has tried, if not for family connections he would still be an inebriated cheer leader.

Once again, this is not about Bush, this is about Caroline, please member this. What Bush has done does not matter anymore because Obama is in. It should be what Obama is going to do or is not going to do. Or what Caroline is going to do, or what Caroline is not going to do. If she gets it.

You are more or less right. I have no problem with people speaking poorly about him though. I just think the level of hate is much, much greater then any possible dislike I have for Obama.

Thank you, George Bush, for leaving America happier and more prosperous than when you arrived.

Thank you for defeating all the terrorists and for capturing Osama Bin Laden

Thank you for rebuilding New Orleans.

Thank you for recording all my calls for me.

Thank you for making peace in the Middle East.

Thank you for trying to tie my retirement funds to Wall Street.

    Thank you for redefining torture.

And thank you for moving to Dallas. I’m sure you’ll be the next Kennedy.

Yes failed at everything. Iraq is free of a deadly dictator. Hussein is dead if you did not know. He lowered taxes for people like me who make under 30K and are married w/ 2 kids. He did fail at getting Osama, but he did put him in permanent hiding. He did fail at granting amnesty that liberals/democrats seem to want. He was blamed for the gas prices going up and up and up, but not a word was said when they came WAYYYYY down. This is interesting. FYI He did not drive them up or bring them down and they almost broke $2.00 while Clinton was in office, they started going up back then. I seen gas for $1.25 at a few stations early December, LOWER then what it was when he took office.

Isn’t it funny that had Sarah Palin conducted herself in her interviews as Caroline Kennedy did in hers there would have been a greater outrage about qualifcations. If Ms. Schlossburg is selected then New York state deserves what they get.

MTT, Well said, me, coming from what I consider the absolute pinpoint of political neutrality (well, ok, the shadow does lean to the left ever so perceptibly) I am in total agreement with you.

    Tiny,
    You said:
You are more or less right. I have no problem with people speaking poorly about him though. I just think the level of hate is much, much greater then any possible dislike I have for Obama.

Just yesterday you called Obama a psychopath.

There is good reason many people speak poorly of Bush. You speak of his success in Iraq and I see a Afghanistan still not under control.
I see Pakistan possibly falling to Islamist terrorists
He is leaving this country with a 1.2 trillion deficit, a collapsed financial system, and the highest unemployment rate in 16 years.
Bush’s critics are looking at the facts.
Bush’s supporters are blindly loyal to either a political philosophy or the Republican Party.

Caroline Kennedy is not my first choice. There are plenty of candidates better qualified than her, including AG Andrew Cuomo and Rep Carolyn Maloney. But if there is one position you can learn on the job, it is US Senator. It is quite common for a new Senator to have a mentor who will guide the new Senator through the first couple of years in the chamber. Ask Obama how helpful Richard Lugar and Chuck Hagle were to him.
What experience did George Bush have before he became governor of Texas? Would someon like been elected or even nominated if his last name had not been Bush?

    ANANDY,
It is a free country. We can have as many coronations as we want. Grab a beer and join the party!!

    Thank you.
Even if you like or dislike someone some things are obvious.
I will also state for myself I will make ever attempt I can from this day forward to only badmouth Obama when, I mean, if he messes up. He is going to be the next president I have to put my personal dislike aside and support him or I’ll be no better then the people I criticize about doing it to Bush.

I was trying to suggest that I have no problem with speaking poorly about him. But calling him names out of pure hatred (I am guilty of this with Obama and I will do my best to stop) is what I mean. I do not care if you call him and idiot because you feel the war is bad and other reasonable reasons you dislike him. But I was meaning more on the lines of pure & blind hatred. Like comments failed at everything he tried. This is out of line and not true. I would not even say this about Obama. He is a good point or 2. As well if he holds out his promises he might have 2 or 3 good points. :o)
    Jon
I usually have a good sense of humor but my very own hatred was blocking it to much. Don’t worry I’ll still be an out of control Conservative (neocon as some here say), but I’ll do my best to be out of control with respect.

I wish I could remember who deserves credit for pointing out that there are people who seem to want to turn the Senate into a hereditary House of Lords (ironically, at a time the British have ended hereditary eligibility).

And not just the Senate. I hope we never again elect a Bush, Kennedy, Gore, Clinton, Daley, Rockefeller, and so forth to even as much as dogcatcher, no matter how qualified. It reflects badly on a great country that should have an endless supply of good people for the positions, as opposed to two-bit dynasties like North Korea or Haiti.

Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution sets three qualifications for senators:
    1) each senator must be at least 30 years old,
    2) must have been a citizen of the United States for at least the past nine years, and 3) must be (at the time of the election) an inhabitant of the state they seek to represent.
If Caroline is currently living in New York, then she is eminently qualified to be a New York Senator.

    BTW,
Age and Citizenship requirements - US Constitution, Article II, Section 1
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.
Term limit amendment - US Constitution, Amendment XXII, Section 1 – ratified February 27, 1951
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

If Obama is a natural born citizen of the US, and I believe he is, then he is eminently qualified to be president of the US, especially as seeing how he received a majority of the votes in the last election, and won the electoral college vote.

That’s kind of how I’m feeling about you these days Mark. It almost seemed that during the holidays you had an epiphany of sorts. I thought maybe you would be better in the new year. Sadly, it seems you are digressing into your old ways rather rapidly. You will never reach people by calling them names. You will never persuade anyone by insulting them. I feel sorry for you Mark, had hopes that your soul was finally finding some sort of peace.

Kennedy is a Radcliffe and Columbia educated attorney and member of both the New York and Washington D.C. bar associations. She is running for a position in government that write laws. Whether or not you think her qualifications are worthy of the Senate doesn’t matter; to dismiss them completely is disrespectful.

After the fifteenth “um…” and the 24th “ya know…” one’s respect for Caroline begins to wear thin not in spite of, but because, she’s a Radcliffe and Columbia graduate and a lawyer. She’s got no excuse for such slovenly rhetoric.
