cheese and rice far, you beat me again. one of these days…….with the state of things nowadays, my least concern is who is bumping uglies with who (whom?). just watching the msnbc shows on the legacy of dubya. mark, do you not get this channel?? they are showing video of this man for crying out loud! how can you accuse the proabortionDEMS of dragging this man down? as georgie would say, i’m going with my gut feeling here, you’ve inserted your baby making wand into our rectal cavity, thank you.

Good point there, bro

wow. i actually agree with marktrail on something. who woulda thunk it …
jack75287 said, 10 months ago
Let me get this straight it is against the law to have your own values. But it is OK for the government to force a set of values that have only been around a few decades on eHarmony.

Farleft reportage is: the reporting of news, especially by an eyewitness or
news or information of general interest that has been reported. So no it is not.

Mark and Jack,
I would say Carl Moore plays fast and loose with the truth but in this case he doesn’t even bother with the truth.
I agree with you partially. I believe that private organizations should be allowed to maintain their own values but the court was not overstepping its bounds in this case.
The case was brought in NJ which has anti-discriminatory laws on behalf of gays, and trans gender people passed by the state legislature.
The matter was settled before a final court ruling
mytinytown said, 10 months ago
So most you think the court, by force, can tell a business what they can do? By not having gays or even interracial couples is there business. You know this works well with your ideas of TV, if you do not like the service change the channel (which means go to a gay dating service, there are plenty I am sure).
leftwingpatriot said, 10 months ago
Tiny,
I don’t know if you are referring to my post.
All I am saying is the court was asked to rule on an existing law.
I am sure the there are plenty of gay dating sites and this suit was brought to make a political point.
But this cartoon is factually incorrect.
The truth does matter.
mytinytown said, 10 months ago
leftwing
No I was not picking on your post, just the people in general who think the courts should control what business does. If it is a true law, this is one thing. But is there a law that claims a dating service HAS to include every kind of person/sexual preference?
rjvjelly
Are you one of those people that blame Bush for Hurricane Katrina? I mean he created it and steered it over New Orleans all while Dick was setting the explosives in the levee? It seems every single post you make slams Bush. I despise Obama, but I have countless posts that do not mention him and even 1 that says something good about him. As well your hate for Bush seems to dominate you.

I thought I had heard Neil Clark Warren already capitulated weeks ago to set up alternative site for homosexual dating as a part of the settlement. Sad, yes for individual rights. I agree with Tiny why not leave it to free market and let it go…

leftwingpatriot read the following
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/12/07/EDNI14H8T4.DTL
The above story is from the San Francisco Chronicle. If a paper like that is against this you do need to be worried about your freedoms. They make a point that the state of New Jersey has unlimited funds to fight anything. That rulling will not protect anyones rights. If a eHarmoney dosn’t want a male on male venue let the guy go some were else.

Tiny,
I posted a response to your and Sablebrush’s comment about the Iraq war yesterday
Here it is:
Sablebrush and Tiny,
This war is a complete failure.
The main reason for this was to stop Saddam and terrorists from getting WMDs
Yet there were no WMDs and the resources for Iraq could have and should have been used in Afghanistan.
Bush allowed the Taliban and Al-Qaeda to regroup in Pakistan, a country that does have WMDs.
Pakistan is increasingly a politically and economically unstable country.
The Pakistan government does not have control over the monsters it has created.
What will the US do if Islamic extremists/terrorists take control of a country that has 60 to 80 nuclear warheads when its resources are tied up in Iraq?

I read it, I’ll repost later. Thank you. It is lunch then I have to make a Dr. run.
leftwingpatriot said, 10 months ago
Jack,
Trust me NJ does not have unlimited sources and we are referring to a law passed by NJ legislature.
I am not a big fan one group forcing their values on another
Char32 said, 10 months ago
Right how could you ever think that owning your own business would allow you to choose whom you want to serve. Gets old after awhile.
leftwing and marktrail good points.
Happy New Year to all (I can still say it this way can’t I?)(:>}
jack75287 said, 10 months ago
Sorry but no. eHarmony is not some multi-billion dollar corparation. It is at most one medium size company. Compare that to just about any state and yes it ability to continue legal procedings is unlimited. State legislature or not is is forcing other values on people.
leftwingpatriot said, 10 months ago
And NJ is a state, like most other states, facing massive budget deficits and service cutbacks.
mytinytown said, 10 months ago
But when it comes to pressing the gay agenda forward it seems there is no limit to money.
leftwingpatriot said, 10 months ago
Unless your a Mormon or Born-Again, then there is no limit to fighting against the gay agenda.
mytinytown said, 10 months ago
It does not matter what or who I am. I do not like ANYTHING pressed down my throat. I did not accept the gay lifestyle anytime in my life. I have only been born again for about 3 years now. It has been said a billion times. If gays would just be gay and NOT FORCE ME to accept it, there would not be there care from our end about their life or life style. But sense they ALL feel I have to accept their personal life style, the issues begin. Once again, freedom of choice has been removed.

It’s not only gays that e-harmony doesn’t care for. So I beleive that if it advertised itself as a bigoted match-making site, no problem. But I doubt if it would be so popular if it did.
rjvjelly, I got to be first here once, it was about 1:11 am Florida time. Hope it helps.
I’ve notice that this site hasn’t been too hostile recently. New Year coming up, maybe we could all let things go a bit…

One does not have to accept the “gay lifestyle”, all one is expected to accept is that they, as AMERICAN CITIZENS are entitled to the same RIGHTS and PROTECTIONS that are guaranteed to others. I grow weary of sanctimonious (alleged) christians that seek to have their particular mythology incorporated as law.

Very good point wndrwrthg.
I have some gay friends. I’ve told them I don’t get it. I don’t see how woman can be attracted to men, so I sure don’t see how men can be. However my lack of understanding something does not make it wrong.
Gay rights is about civil rights. If all citizens are equal under the law, then all have the same rights.
Freedom of religion means that churches can preach and believe as they will. If a faith believes homosexuality is a sin, then they are free to ban gay marriage IN THEIR CHURCH. Passing laws defining marriage as between a man and a woman is an attempt to further that ban into the public sector and I disagree with that.
As for E-harmony. There are many dating sites on the internet. I would rather have seen a boycott of their services by heterosexuals who stand for gay rights. It’s a business, if they want to make money they should maximize their profit potential.
It’s my understanding the founders of E-Harmony are Christians. Perhaps they should have marketed themselves that way. If they had advertised as a Christian matchmaking service, then I would support their right to exclude gays under freedom of religion.
sablebrush5 said, 10 months ago
Do gay dating sites have to include a way for heterosexual couples to meet? If they do, it’s just as ridiculous as requiring a hetero site to include gays. When does common sense come back in style?

Marktrail - It is strange to find myself agreeing with you on this one. The only reason I mentioned advertising as a Christian business is about the freedom of religion issue. It is one thing to oppose gay rights, it is another to be forced to facilitate them.
The way I understand the NJ law is written is that a company can not discriminate against gays. All well and good for human resources, but a business should be able to choose the clientele they cater to.
This is the internet. It’s not like the civil rights era where discrimination meant people couldn’t receive certain services due to prejudice. There are sites for gays, and it would be as wrong to force them to serve straights as it is to force e-harmony to serve gays.
Hope you have a happy New Year as well. It’s been nice to see a “kinder, gentler’ Marktrail lately.
Peace to you.

I to must agree with you. A gay site should NOT be forced to have hetro coupling on it (and I believe a lot do not). But this falls under that double standard we see too much. What is good for the goose, is NOT good for the gander when you are the gander and the gander is a minority.
As well I’ll agree ALL people should get the same rights as everyone else. As I have said, what is done in your home, should be kept in your home. If you force me to accept it, now we will have a fight. Because before I did not care, but now sense I have to like it, I now care. It goes this way, if I go to my gay brother-in-laws home and he can be all over his BF, this is fine. If I do not like it I can leave. Now if he comes to my house, he better respect me and MY lifestyle and act appropriately. Which he does.
As about the people passing laws against gay marriage, this is the way it should have been done. Yes I was for the nation wide marriage amendment, but it was not the correct way to go. It should have been up to each state. As it does seem to be now. I see nothing wrong with the voice of the people passing state amendments for things. We now have marijuana legal in my state, I do not like it, but that is what the people wanted as well as the baby killing embryonic stem cell research, which is doomed for failure. I’d rather die then have an unborn baby save my life. But that is what the people wanted, right or wrong in my opinion, it does not matter. Same with the pres elect. Do not like or agree with him, but I have to accept it.
