Marktrail - Haven’t seen your posts in a few days. I appreciated the kind words last Sunday. Good comment today. I have nothing against Mr. Gore, but I can also agree on this one.
I’m in favor of environmental protection, but after reading State of Fear by the late Michael Crighton, I have come to question a lot of the ‘facts’ about the climate change.

Alternative fuel will be great for everyone but those countries who wield their oil as if it were a weapon. High oil prices would not be soooo bad if the money stayed in the states for research into alternative fuel. Hey really, they’re just not making dinosaurs like they used to.

I am a big proponent of Natural Gas. You can’t tell me a couple of pipe lines in Alaska is more harmfull for the environment then the first and second gulf war. I looked it up yesterday. Americas M1 tanks get .6 miles to one gallon. Thas is in 6/10 of a mile.

Great panel, interesting to see how this strip is attracting so much attention lately from the left…
Matt Wuerker’s latest panel complains that Bush’s departure is going to make it difficult for Comedians and Cartoonist, well, maybe for Liberal ones, ‘cause the way I see it is going to be a bumper crop, especially given the cast of characters that are lining up to take over the Political limelight, as depicted here in this strip…

Gore took the global-warming reality and pumped it up into something unreal - it’s the end of the world within ten years if we don’t act immediately and drastically to fight it. Doom-and-gloomers are always wrong. He’s the Nostradamus or our time.

I think that the greens have been going about changing things the wrong way, they should take W’s lessons from Iraq to heart. Where are the WMD? If W would have said Hussein is an evil @SS#*(# and needs to be taken out now he could have had his war without concern for the possibility of no WMD.
As manmade global warming starts unraveling at the seams the masses are discounting the entire war against global warming. If the greens would have gone after just the general health concerns of pollution and the don’t support foreign tyrants they would have gotten the buy in with out fear of global warming being natural(ized).

We already import 15% of our natural gas so if we start using more we will just have to import more.
I’m not a big fan of France (not the French just the country as a whole) but I will admit that when it comes to nuclear power the French know what they are doing, and I think it is something we should emulate.

farleftside says:
The one’s who like high oil prices are the unregulated Wall Street speculators that the Bushies let run wild and who, therefore, almost singlehandedly devastated the world’s economic system.
if you look back at when the oil prices started falling it was the day after W said that he would lift the presidential ban on off shore drilling.
if the greens the world over would not have made ethanol mandatory we (that is the moneyed nations) would not have been using such a large chunk of our food resources for fuel thereby driving up the price of food.
if the bankers, ok there are way to many people to blame here and we could never cover all who are responsible but it is not just republicans or just democrats but the combination of the two. I think that if the banks were totally free market without mandatory loan policies towards the poor or if it was heavily regulated with those policies the sector would not have failed.

Global climate change is real, whether you choose to accept it or not. Look around you, weather patterns are changing before your eyes. If you wish to fight terrorism, do not put money in their pockets by purchasing their oil. If the fuel/mileage proposals had been followed we could have cut considerably into the amount that we import. We are not protecting american rights or freedoms by being in foreign lands, spilling the blood of those which many of you so sanctimoniously say you support. Gas is on the rise again, with a 23 cent rise here in my neck of the woods in the past week. Whether the climate change is cyclical or not, there can be no doubt that the practices of humans is exacerbating the problem. If you really wish to support our troops get them out of the hell hole that is little georgies folly, support alternetive sources and ways of travel.

Someguy53, child, I never said we should not drive. That would be most impractical without a greater emphasis on public transit or a better type of vehicle.
KingRat said, 10 months ago
The only people that deny that the earth was/is warming up are idiots, the main question is whether mankind was/is responsible for the warming.
wndrwrthg as far as your local gas prices the gas stations near me (denver, colorado) are still going down ($1.39 downtown). Overall I agree that Iraq was stupid.

“when the world turns to bleeep in the future all the disbelievers will look around and say WHOOPS”
Alas, not true. When people drive up to a McDonalds, do they mourn the irreplaceable wetland that used to be there? When commuters drive miles from work to their McMansion subdivision, do they regret the lost fertile farmland that used to be there? Do we notice the absence of millions of buffalo thundering across the North American Plains, or the Passenger Pigeons that were once so abundant that they darkened the skies for days as they migrated by (now EXTINCT). No, most people don’t notice the presence of the beautiful natural web of life around them. They certainly won’t notice its ABSENCE. In fact, if most people DO notice some wild creature sharing their living space, the most common response is “kill it - quick, call the exterminator”. CAPTIALISM sees no value in the natural world unless it can be exploited for financial gain. Many of the Conservatives who are intelligent enough to recognize how humans are impacting the planet are actually considering it a GOOD thing as it might be an opportunity for making money.
