I wish Mort Drucker (from MAD Magazine) would take over drawing this strip.
He’s a GREAT caricaturist; Moore is lousy.

Reality has never stopped liberals before, why should it start now? We’ll be hearing the racism excuse for a long time to come. Too many jobs in the grievance industry depend on it!

As opposed to Republicans, who won’t admit anything is wrong even when the economy is in the tank, there’s no end in sight for two expensive wars. And we have lost the respect of the world!

Far as Carl Moore is concerned racism never existed, just an excuse black used for their problems.
So yes, Carl Moore is a racist

    Mark,

The proof in lost respect is reflected by the celebrations that broke out in countries that share values of democracy and freedom when Obama was elected
People all over the world were happy to see Bush go.
Most people still love America but they felt the US had become a bully in the past 6 years.
Bush had wasted the good-will that existed after 9/11

Much of the rejoicing around the world after the election, was due to the fact that a “black” president had been elected, which was seen as an end to American racism. The irony is that Obama is half white, and was raised primarily by the white side of his family amidst white surroundings. Also, the black population voted overwhelming for him, which reflects that a form of racism still exists. I was in favour of McCain, not because of his race or ethnicity, but because of a comparison of the candidate’s policies, experience, background, prior associations and so on. All I heard from Obama was vague slogans such as “change”, and tax policies that even he has backed down on once the reality of the situation hit home.

I am a Canadian, but the United States wields such an influence in the world, that your political scene is of much greater concern to me than that of most other countries. I do not think that George Bush has been the greatest president ever, but I am very saddened and sickened by the abuse that has been heaped upon him by the American people. He has governed during one of the most difficult periods in recent history, most of which was not his fault. 9/11 occured within 8 months of his taking office, and he displayed tremendous leadership in keeping the country together and free from attack during the rest of his term. Hurricane Katrina happened and he was blamed for the lack of preparedness and action while being hampered by an uncooperative governor and mayor, who bore the primary responsibility for their people. The economy is in the tank, but that is the case around much of the world. Highly inflated world oil prices, irresponsible lending and borrowing on suspect mortgages (encouraged by many democratic leaders and organizations), greedy unions, and corporations farming out their production and call centres to countries like India and China had far more to do with the current slump than anything Bush did or could have done. The war in Iraq was necessary, given the fact that Hussein was thumbing his nose at the UN, was one of the worst barbarians we have seen in recent years and had displayed an arsenal of weapons during previous conflicts. Inaction by the UN allowed them to be moved. To pull out before completing the job would allow terrorism to take over Iraq. And don’t forget that bush was dealing with a democratic congress for the last term. So lets allow the man to leave office with the dignity he deserves and thank him for his efforts. It was a thankless task.

Obama also will find out what a thankless task being President of this country is. There will always be those on the opposite side, and some on the same side, no matter who gets elected, that will always ‘want it all’ their way. No compromises.

It is very difficult to get folks to disagree without being disagreeable. If only we could stop disrespecting each other…
But it depends on each of one us to start, or it ain’t gonna happen…

    Pbuckland,
A company I worked for moved their call center to Canada because the CanD was 60 cent to the USD at the time and the company did not have to worry about health insurance.
A Canadian PM would have been forced to resign if he sat on his hands for 5 days while Halifax, or Montreal was under water.
    The Taliban was regrouping while US troops were fighting in Iraq;
This President fired a 4 star general because he gave an honest assessment of what it would take to fight the war in Iraq.
The simple fact is more than 7 years after 9/11 the security situation is as much a mess as it was back in 2001.
This President took record budget surpluses and turned them into record deficits.
He gutted the laws on the environment and work place safety and is still trying to this as a lame duck.
He attempted to privatize Soc Sec and his Medicare program has only benefited the insurance companies while costing the taxpayers even more than if no changes had been made.
The unions have next to no power in the US.
The average janitorial worker makes less now than he or she did in the 1970s with absolutely no benefits.
Unions main purpose now is to serve as convenient scapegoat for conservatives.

Let’s get back to the comic. Anyone who thinks that Obama winning the election means that racism is over is sadly mistaken. Keep in mind the death threats that he has received. Also keep in mind that, in the south where I live, there are still remnants of the openly prejudice era from a few decades ago and some of it has been passed down to our current generation. The justice system is still harder on blacks who use crack than whites who use cocaine (same drug, different form). There are black and white supremecists who think their skin color is better than everyone elses. There are Hispanics and Asians who don’t want their children to marry outside of their race/heritage. I could go on but I’ve gotten too wordy already. Racism is still alive and well.

    Mark,
I don’t know what world you live in but if you read some the conservative blogs I did, you would find out how some self-described conservative feel about Obama’s race.
Michelle Obama has been compared to Dr Zira in “Planet of the Apes” and that a Princeton and Harvard educated lawyer will need etiquette lessons like the Julia Roberts’ character (a prostitute) in “Pretty Woman.” Did anyone ever say anything like that about Laura Bush?
It was Fox News that referred to her as Barack’s baby’s momma as if she was an unwed teen-age mother
Obama’s nationality and religous belief’s have been questioned
As one white voter in Alabama explained why she voted for McCain, “I think blacks will become more aggressive if Obama is elected.”

I picture a guy(Marktrail)who probalby feels like me and is real upset in his heart that people would think so little of themselves and their offspring that they would even consider that human life is expendable and not the precious gift that it is and that we all are. I dont necessarily think that I have the right or my government has the right to police your individual bodies, but I am saddened that people can become so hardened against the beauty and treasure of individual life that it becomes second to almost any other concern.
