Please, get a grip!
IF things get worse, perhaps some the idiot’s idiot supporters will wake up to the damage they, through him, have done. Perhaps not.
FBush. A bad joke that is nearly over.

And for the idiots, David Brooks and Kristol, that ratted on Palin like Republicans always do. This guy is such a tool.
The damage this strip has done to intelligence, humor and irony in pursuit of moronic, entirely mindless support of an idiot and his puppetmaster out to trash the Constitution, is, fortunately, nil.

And Mr. Obama has already declared the Constitution obsolete, so we won’t see any of that under his administration.

sbert- no no no. That was bush that did that.

Nope, sorry. Mr. Obama’s going to do just as much, if not more, to damage the Constitution. In his own words:
“It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it’s been interpreted, and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.”
He doesn’t like the Constitution the way it is, so he will work to redefine it.
The difference between how you’re looking at President Bush and how I will view President Obama is there’s a deep seeded hatred for the current President. It drives the opposition to him. I will never demean President Obama as a man. I will argue the policies and ideas he espouses that are, in my opinion, wrong for the country.
And don’t deny there’s an anger behind the arguments against Mr. Bush. The posts against him do not even honor him by calling him President Bush or Mr. Bush. That’s an indication of disdain.

I just finished reading the collected works of H. G. Wells. One thing that struck me was that in every story there was either a socialist character or a socialistic theme. I’ve read many works either written or set in that era (nearly a hundred years ago). Many of the great minds of the time were socialists or had socialist leanings. History repeats itself. The world nearly went socialist once before. Capitalism eventually won out here in America and elsewhere. I’m not advocating either system here, but keep this in mind: Rampant, under regulated capitalism has led to one great depression, several recessions, and the current economic crisis. Some adjustment of our economic model is not a bad thing.

pardon me, all you W apologists, but HE has just nationalized half the financial institutions in America and soon he’ll do the same with the pathetic automobile companies…who is the SOCIALIST here?????

sbert003- that now-famous quote you cited is in no way controversial. Obama was simply stating what any Constitutional scholar would readily agree with. The Constitution is a charter of negative liberties, and nowhere in it does it state “what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.” Simple statement of fact. There is no implied promise or threat by Obama, particularly if you hear the quote in its full context.
As for disrespect for Bush, it isn’t hard to understand why so many harbor ill-feelings for a man who has done so much harm to the Constitution, the citizenry, the military, the economy, and our reputation around the globe.

And I disagree totally with the bailout of any private institution by the government. Sorry if that skews your opinion of me as a “Bush apologist”, but it’s as simple as if your company can’t make it on its merits, it doesn’t make it. However, the bailouts can’t be pinned solely on Mr. Bush, the congress was complicit. In fact, the auto industry bailout is being pushed primarily from the congressional side, mainly Speaker Pelosi. The fact we no longer recognize failure as acceptable isn’t relegated to one political persuasion.

It is controversial is the context that Mr. Obama was lamenting the failure of the courts to discern restribution from the Constitution. I have read the full context. Also, the Constitution does speak to many positives, not just prohibitions. The right to free speech, bear arms, practice religion without government interference. We all need to go and read the Constitution ouselves, not merely rely on Constitutional scholars to distill it for us. The language is plain and straightforward.
