I don’t know how many have read Asimov’s biography, but he was actually sitting in a class one day that critiqued one of his stories. When he called the professor on it, he told him, “Just because you wrote it, what makes you think you have the slightest idea what it’s about?” Hilarious. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeathOfTheAuthor

I don’t know nearly as much about Dr. Asimov as I would like to, thanx for the information.

I remember when my dear old grandfather “Papa” was on his last few days…
He was a carpenter. He created beautiful things from cedar.
Sometime before, my brother had accidentally struck one of Papa’s cedar bookends shaped like a sailboat. The damage was minimal; you could barely see it…
Tell that to Papa!
One day before he died from Cancer, he was sitting in the living-room, and even in his condition, he could tell that someone messed with it from where he was sitting.
An artist knows his own work.

When we’re at a crucial moment in our lives, we see things differently….I’m sure he didn’t really bear any malice towards your brother.

It’s not the reality, it’s the perception.

Don’t worry. Papa never had a chance to read my brother the riot act. Everyone else was just surprised that he was able to see the damage.
Papa tried to teach all of us his craft. He was one of the best in the business. Sadly, none of us could master it… Not even me. His death meant the end of an era.
