    They had difficulty separating Maine from New Hampshire and Canada.

    But they should have no problem with Hawaii.

    Kroykali: Except that the Hawaiian islands are the caps on a bunch of volcanos. Cut off the tops of those seamounts, and things will get very interesting. There would be the same issues with some spots in Japan, but with Hawaii it’s ALL volcanos. Besides that, Hawaii is great where it is. Maine and Japan not so much, unless you like cold winters.

    Trimming the edges of Maine or any other landmass you choose to lift off isn’t difficult compared to the undercutting.
