from personal experience there is no better place. Look out the door: if there is food in the dish the cat won’t chase you, no food the cat might chase you. plus if the cat fills up and walks away all remaining food is yours for the taking.

Some cats just like to catch mice and “play” with them until they die. I have a cat like that, luckily we don’t get many mice!

Excellent observations, KingRat.
………
PurpleVegan, you don’t have any mice because they all got played with to death.

My GF’s Manx cat has food in his bowl 24x7, but on one of his rare dashes out the front door he still brought home a mouse he had killed. Doin’ what comes natchurly, as the old song put it.
Besides, if the mousies get eaten, it’s just Darwin at work.

My old cat got plenty of food. That just meant that she didn’t eat the mice she killed, just lined ‘em up on the front porch to show me. Guess she thought I should have a choice over the dried food.
