My husband had a leash as a small child – he said it was better than having his shoulder socket pulled on trying to hold a tall parent’s hand. Hmmm, maybe he has a point, although it does look humiliating.

True. It does look humiliating but at least these children do not wander off and get separated from their parents, and at the mercy of some predator.

No, she did the right thing. Children are always running away. This keeps the child close. Kudos to them they deserve it.

It only looks humiliating to an adult… children of an age that wear those things don’t know the difference. As Flossie Mudduck said, it is better than having their shoulder socket pulled on trying to hold a tall parent’s hand. And as Macushlalondra said, it keeps the children safer than being free to wander off and get lost or fall into the hands of a predator.

Imagine if people regarded seat belts in cars as “humiliating.” The child leashes use the same principle.

Love this strip! My kids had leashes, and so does my G’son - not because we don’t pay attention to them, but because we love them and it gives them an extra measure of safety — esp. on those days when they are being faster than the speed of light, extra adventurous!
