The Nutz family is definitely not the Cleavers, the Waltons or the Bradys. But you'll undoubtedly recognize them anyway. Most likely, they're a lot like the family you grew up in... where the battle for the last chicken leg is comparable to the Battle of Bull Run, sibling rivalry is putting it mildly, and family values usually refers to a coupon book. Soup to Nutz by Rick Stromoski stars hard-working Roy Nutz, his loving wife Pat, and their battling brood - sons Roy-boy and Andrew, daughter Babs and rambunctious dog Rosco.
Stromoski is the seventh in a family of 12 children. Growing up in such a large family has given him an especially developed sense of humor that he has expressed through drawing from the moment he could pick up a pencil. A self-taught cartoonist and humorous illustrator, his work has appeared in national magazines, children's and humor books, newspapers, licensed products, national advertising and network television. Stromoski's greeting cards have become best-sellers for several major companies. He has won four Louie Awards for outstanding greeting card design. He has been nominated for his illustration work by the National Cartoonists Society 12 times and was awarded the Reuben division award for best greeting cards in 1995 and 1998, and for magazine gag cartoons in 1999. An NCS board member since 1997, he was elected president in 2005.

Because you have to catch them when they are young. If you tried telling someone that mythology is true, when they are older, most would laugh in your face.

The parents have seen what happens to kids that don’t experience religion.

yes, right. it would be more interesting to attend a sex education class where they will be taught how to celebrate the sodomites…

Yes, they grow up to be rational, thinking adults.

So true. Unfortunately, Mr. Ima lives in his own little bubble world and what is happening out here can’t register.

I find it ironic that one of the funniest comics strips out there today & one of my personal favorites is the most anti Christian mainstream writing/comic I’ve ever read!
Rick, WHY do you hate the church so much?
WHY do you think it’s OK to mock the faith of one group and not other faiths?
aircraft-engineer said, 6 months ago
It’s only anti-christian because that’s what you THINK – you miss the point that in the brainwashing of every Sunday, gilding the lily with extra BS sessions on Wednesday is, to a KID, the Department of REDUNDANCY Department.
One thing i will say for followers of the magical mythical sky fairy is that they ENJOY their delusions (convinced that that book of fables and dogma is “real”) Sane, thinking people look at them and politely smile, then laugh once they are out of hearing distance.

aircraft-engineer, I don’t know if you’re Rick. My questions were addressed to him. While I have absolutely no desire to engage in a war of words with anyone and I respect yours any anyone’s right to have an opinion on any issue I can’t help but notice that your response to my 2 questions were left unanswered in your post. Instead you decided to really lay the bashing on thick and heavy. To keep focusing ones mocking towards only one religion is an expression of some sort of hate/anger towards it. Rick has done this regarding Christianity for many years. I am really curious as to what happened in his past to create this mindset of his. Why I picked today to finally express my displeasure regarding this unfair attack is a mystery even to me. . I wish you and your loved ones only the best for this year & the next.
Peace.

I got one better than that. I went to Catholic School through 12th grade. Went to Mass every morning before elementary school, church on Sundays, and Religion classes in High school where we learned about lots of different religions. Haven’t been back to church since 1974.

Most of my friends are atheists and are all successful, charitable, intelligent, and most of all, happy.

No, they grow up to be the Hitlers and Stalins of our day. both were athiests, both didnt believe that man was anything more than an object to be used to create a ‘perfect’ society, where that society was the god.

Good response, calling The God a ‘mythical sky fairy.’ thats SURE to shut us up, putting us in our place. You are half right about the first part you said. Rel Ed has relied too much on not proper teaching and using rote regurgitated answers which dont help the kids understand the Truth of God and faith.
But how can you say this is brainwashing, when just as well, the insult can be used on your beliefs. If athiesm didnt exist, we’d create it, and so we did. You have bought in the the rhetoric of ‘no-god’ etc. You have been brain-washed into believing there is nothing else out there, despite all the evidence contrary, including reasoning. See, works both ways.

The question is: How can they be charitable is there is no such thing as an absolute charity? If there is nothing to value or gauge happiness against, how can they be happy? if all we are are accidental molecules bouncing around, then happiness and charity and even intelligence are only accidental mus-concepts. They cannot be happy, they cannot be good or charitable or even have intelligence if the world is random, and by chance, and we are all accidents. It doesnt make sense. Yet you are able to identify these traits, because, even though they do not believe in a God, or a higher power, they STILL borrow such concepts from that God. They are acting as Christians, or Jews, or Muslims or what ever, while claiming to not be doing so.

Why do you consider telling the truth to be “hate?”
