    I should have explained it later…it’s an inside joke on Acadian names; they kind of work like russian names where they will add “nicolaievitch” or “nicolaievna” to the name man or woman whose father was named Nicolas… or “Alexandrovitch”, or “Petrovitch”…well, you get the picture.

    Here, although our ID’s just show first and last name, there is some kind of oral tradition where, for example, someone whose name is Jacques and is the son of someone called Pierre, he’ll be called Jacques à Pierre. In some cases, they add the name of their mother instead.

    My dad was a quebecker, my moms name is Claudine, her dad’s name was Pierre and Pierre’s dad’s name was Gregoire, which makes me Cynthia à Claudine à Pierre à Gregoire.

    That’s not Acadian. That’s a pedigree. Smudge and Cholmondeley had names like that, with pedigrees going back eight generations to cats with names like Supreme Queen Gossamer III of Dunton Green…
