Cats don’t age at a uniform rate. A year-old cat is the equivalent of a human in late adolescence – seventeen or so, old enough to reproduce. Over time, their rate of aging slows, so that a 20-year-old cat has aged an average of a bit less than five years per calendar year. Guinness doesn’t keep records for the world’s oldest, but a cat in Wales currently claims 39 years and a cat from Texas cashed out at 38 years three days.

Wow! I had my Hannah Bee for 16 years and four days. I considered myself lucky. I had my best dogs ever, who grew up together except for the first year, for 17 years each. Again, lucky. Sure miss those three!

I would love for my cat to get to 39. It still wouldn’t be long enough though.

I really like the artwork, Snow’s expressions and his MIL’s grumpy face are brilliant.
