I know! Mine make cute chirps/beeps when sighting a spider or bird.

Those aren’t always just “cute chirps / beeps”.

For some cats, it means that they’re actually attempting bird calls or other animal calls in the hopes of getting the prey to come closer.
    []
That’s right, folks: cats are natural mimics.
    []
A few of the smarter ones will even attempt to mimic human speech.
    []
Every once in a while, one of them will actually pull it off. I once had a cat that had a five-word vocabulary, and he was smart enough to where he could actually use those five words to string together crude sentences.

Is it just me or are the cats named after the comedy show Smith and Jones?

Actually they’re named after the cats that lived next door to me when I was a kid. They in turn were named after the characters in the western show “Alias Smith and Jones”.

Cute alert! Some newly rediscovered photos of Smudge and Cholmondeley when they were kittens are now on the blog. (As is next Monday’s strip for some bizarre software glitchy reason). smithcomic.blogspot.co.uk

So that is Smith’s moth word? I love the funny noises that cats make, our kitten calls humming birds “ack acks”.

Andrew, Smudge and Cholmondeley look so gorgeous in the photo’s.
