Clever. I don’t know if it’s an international thing, but at this time of the year, the Canadian Cancer Society sells daffodils as a fund-raiser. What a coincidence!

Who or what is DC Thompson?
I’ve been known to read British murder mysteries. Isn’t DC the abbreviation for Detective Constable?

DC Thompson are a Scottish publishing company. They do newspapers in Scotland and kid’s comics throughout the country. The main one is The Beano – the companion paper, the Dandy, sadly folded last year after being published for 75 years. Amongst their best known characters are Desperate Dan (a cowboy in a very Scots looking Wild West town), Dennis the Menace (no relation to the American panel – this one’s definitely a juvenile delinquent), The Bash Street Kids and, of course, Billy the Cat. Google ‘The Broons’ and "Oor Wullie’.
