Psychologist (referring to a chocolate bunny): “If you had eaten the ears first, it would mean that you’re normal; if you had eaten the chest first, it would mean that you have an Oedipus comples; if you had eaten the tail first, it would mean you have latent homosexual tendencies.
Emo Phillips: Okay, so what does it mean when I bite out the eyes and scream "STOP STARING AT ME!!!!!”?
Psychologist: It means you have a tendency towards self-destructive behavior.
Emo Phillips: What do you recommend?
Psychologist:: Go for it!

CorosiveFrog upon further inspection, you can see ever so slightly, a change in each panel! I guess it is a “real” cat! :-D

What happened? I didn’t see any posts about anything like that, and I don’t do Facebook. Was is on there?
In either case, whatever happened Andrew, you have my sympathies. I have lost some very wonderful friends over the years, dogs and cats both.

For those who haven’t been following my blog, we lost both of our cats within three weeks of one another. Smudge, the real one, who was a sweet old lady and not at all obsessive about walls died of old age two days before Christmas. Gizmo died last Tuesday when the renal failure he’d been defying for the past six months or so suddenly caught up with him. We’d known it was going to happen for quite a while, but not so close together bookending Christmas. Donations, please, to your favourite animal charities. Smudge will live on in this strip, as will Gizmo, as he’s provided several of Smith’s sillier character traits. You’ll see a photo of them both on today’s post at smithcomic.blogspot.co.uk

Oh Andrew, I AM SO SORRY! I can empathize with you. We lost one of our dogs some years ago now, 2 days before Christmas as well. Gallagher was 17, and such a joy! We literally rescued him from the 4 lane highway in front of our townhouse that led onto to Fort Bragg Army Base. I still miss him like crazy! It never gets easier either, yet we (a collective, most of us here at gocomics) will put ourselves through it again for love of a helpless animal.

I am so sorry to hear about Gizmo. It is very sad that it was so soon after Smudge.

Ooooh. Blast! I am so very, very sorry for your losses.
.
I had a Smudge too — mine was a him — and I still miss him greatly.
.
I haven’t been reading your blog (clueless me didn’t know there was one…) but I’ll start doing so now.
.
Take good care.

I really think you’re right. I believe that most people who enjoy humor love life… and animals, too!
.
All my little buds have been “rescues”… and they have done more to rescue me than I ever did — or could do — to rescue them.

My condolences, Andrew. When our Cat “matriarch” ‘Stache died a few years ago, my wife was crushed…so was I. I cried so hard at the ve when they had to put her down I had to step outside. We have five cats right now, but Banshee, who was ’Stache’s constant companion is arguably MY cat….and she’s 18 years old. I know she’s on her last legs (shes not in pain or anything, just really old for a cat.) and believe me, it will hurt me badly when the day comes. But take heart that your pets will live on in Smith. I can think of no better way to honor them.

Bailey, all but one of mine was a rescue, but I guess my yellow Lab Susie, was a rescue in a sense. I bought her at a Pet Store, so I guess I rescued her too. She was my constant companion! Then I got Teddy and the above mentioned Gallagher. They grew up together, 3 good sized dogs riding around with us in the back of our VW Beetle, the original VW Beetle! People would honk their horns and wave at us, and just LOL! Good times and GREAT, WONDERFUL dogs! Now I find myself with 5 delightful cats, rescues, 2 of them a story for another day, :-D. But I do miss having a dog or two!
Happy, happy, happy!!!
