Oliver Twist? Wasn’t apprenticed to a sweep?

The song’s from Mary Poppins, though I don’t think Dick van Dyke ever stuffed any boys up chimneys. Oliver was apprenticed to Sowerberry the Undertaker.

Tom from The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley was an apprentice sweep, and had to climb up the chimneys.
I was appalled when I read about that as a kid.
Jones is going to be a blue eyed black cat when she gets down from there.

Oh, I am quite familiar with Mary Poppins. I want to watch when Jones and the boy do Step in Time.
Have you ever read Mary Poppins? The one in the book was NOTHING like Julie Andrews!

When I was a kid, which would be over forty years ago. I’ve forgotten a lot, but, yes, the Mary Poppins in the books was definitely more of a strict governess than Julie Andrews was.
