Which is why state governments should increases tax on alcohol, to help pay for the increased costs for law enforcement, traffic collisions and accidents, domestic violence calls and injuries, healthcare costs, ER and trauma center costs. Those are direct, irrefutable costs that would legitimately warrant an increase in taxes.
I’m not against drinking, but the abuse of alcohol puts enormous costs on local governments. Elected officials don’t seem to have the guts to do it though.
