What I find amazing is that these people will actually LIFT a cart over a curb, into a ‘median’ that’s immediately adjacent to a ‘return aisle’.

I live about half a mile from a “one stop shopping center” & there are idiots who use the carts to take their “stuff” home. Then they leave the carts in residential area parking lots (or in the ditch) for the store owners to retrieve.

Any guess who gets to pay for this in higher prices?

G.I , I’ve seen many times & some times the people DO NOT return the shopping carts & use them for thier own personal use! (i:e: laundry cart, water bottle cart, recycling cart & in some cases a Barbeque!)
that’s the reason several cities started impounding the “stray shopping carts” & started imposing “fees’ for the stores to retrive the carts back as well as many stores hiring “cartherders’ to pick up the wayward carts & return them to thier rightful owners the retail stores as well as placing a locking device on the cart’s front wheels so the carts would not be taken out of the shopping centers.

Saw a woman yesterday using a shopping cart with one of those plastic kiddie cars attached to the front as a stroller - miles away from the grocery store.
Here in KS, I get really upset on a windy day with carts not put in a place where they won’t roll into a vehicle. With the winds we get here, they can put a dent in it. My sister, who lived in NJ for 20 years, tells me that the yuppies think they are doing a favor to not put the shopping carts away, so that the store has to hire more “cart boys”.

When I was in college, the previous Freshman class had commandeered a shopping cart from the local Kroger (several miles away) and chained it to the bike rack so they could take their laundry to the spiffy dorm’s laundromat.
