This strip is so loaded with propaganda that there is no point in trying to debate each error. I’ll just take one issue.
“A competing insurance plan”. Sounds good, right? Competition is a natural result of a free economy, so those of us in favor of a free economy should back the plan, right?
But imagine that your “competition” has the power to pass laws that affect your business. They control your prices, your wages, your taxes. They control your product offerings, your advertising, your sales region. They pass regulation after regulation and threaten you with jail if you don’t comply. And all the while they publicly vilify you as profit-scrounging exploiters.
But competition is good, right? But this is NOT competition! It’s thinly disguised socialist welfare state central management, at least until the insurance companies give up and turn it all over to the government, which has been the long-term goal from the beginning.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! As usual, you articulate the issues exactly, and reveal conservative hypocrisy for what it is. Thank you!

My comment above refers to the cartoon, and not to idiotic twaddle posted right above it.

Oh I love ignorance, can you imagine how boring it would be if we always only had facts to read…

Iraq War: $600 trillion
Health Care: $1 trillion
Seems cheap to me.
But maybe after the Republicans spent so much in money and lives invading a country that was no danger to us, creating a danger for us, busting the US and the world’s economy, destroying our good name as a nation with torture and other crimes, we don’t have anything left to get what we really need, what every other modern country has had for decades.

@cabrobst: $600 Trillion????? It was $600 Billion and the Federal government was actually engaged in a constitutionally mandated duty.
Iraq was a smashing success (we overthrew Saddam and established a free democracy - what’s wrong with that????) and would have been more so if not for the perpetual bellyaching of a bunch of godbleeeped ignorant hippies subverting the mission. The War on Terror was understood to be a 40 year mission, much like the Cold War. Had we been able to follow through in Iraq, we would have strategic bases on allied soil (or sand in this case) in a highly volatile region. That has all been compromised.
I don’t give a bleeep about our reputation amongst candy-ass socialist and/or third world nations. They still benefit from the protections of the mission in spite of their bitching.
As for the Healthcare debate, the above is PURE propoganda. I’m with a Blue Shield PPO in California (self-employed for 15 years) and I have NEVER been denied a service, prescription or procedure.

So, the hippies subverted the mission and it’s benefiting the world?
