GoComics is delighted to re-introduce "Skippy." The legendary comic created by Percy Crosby debuted in 1923 and ran in newspapers until 1945.
Hailed by critics, fellow cartoonists and readers as a "classic," it's easy to see how "Skippy" inspired comics like "Peanuts" and "Calvin and Hobbes." We hope you enjoy this glimpse back in time with one of the most-beloved characters of the mid-20th Century.

You could just click on the strip to expand it – if it’s still too small you prob’ly need an optician or a bigger screen… was wonderin’ the same thing about the original run though, how big did it run back then?

Newspapers then had more columns of width, and the columns were bigger. I worked in advertising for a few years, and every now and then the papers would change their size, cheapening the product and reducing their appeal, to try and save some amount of newsprint. Much the same way toilet paper has gotten narrower, and with about the same result — except people need the latter more.

Did anyone else catch the in-joke reference to Norman Anthony? He was the editor of the humor magazine Life, where Skippy made his debut in 1923.
