And yet nobody seems to realize that “sophisticated defense” of richer “democracies” bombing people to get them to accept our viewpoint, and killing their kids, might just make OUR victims turn more radical?? From Rome against Hebrews, to the Inquisition, to Viet Nam, Iran/Contra, Afghanistan and Iraq, or Gaza, power corrupts, and sees not it’s own degradation.

ISIS morphed out of the ‘good’ rebels that ‘Saint’ Obama supported whilst the ‘evil’ Vladimir Putin’ supported the ‘bad’ Assad. Plenty to think about there.

no, you are all wet! Hamas has in it’s charter to wipe out Israel! Israel has the right and duty to protect its self!
As for ISIS, they are beheading Christians for not converting! There is no bombing them to turn them radical! The USA did not do this! Radical Islam did!

“power corrupts, and sees not it’s own degradation.”
“power????” Obama left, bugged out, Took credit for the surge and the relativity stability. In his haste to get out he left a vacuum of power and ISIS walked right in!

People that strap explosive’s to their kids, the mentally disabled or the stupid and send them to crowded public places to blow themselves up don’t need any help or an excuse to become terrorist’s.

The problem of playing the “spreader of democracy” while really liking fascism. Which the US has been doing since the late 19th century. Assad was our go to man for torture. Then Obama turned against him when he went to put down insurrection. Of the kind the USA would not tolerate either. What a tangled web we weave…

Both sides are worthless. Supporting either is a fool’s errand.

It is amusing to see some of the same people who took Obama to task for not coming to the aid of the “rebels” now take him to task for helping the “rebels”.

So, for you MondayMorning Quarterback/Wheelchair General types: what would a President Romney have done? And how would the results have been different?

“bombing people to get them to accept our viewpoint,”
Personally I think “stop trying to kill us” is a valid viewpoint.

An old man in Viet Nam who’d fought with the Viet MInh, and was Ho’s second, when driving the Japanese out of Indochina for us, became a village elder in South Viet Nam. When refusing our offer to move his village, he stated simply, “You leave us alone, we leave you alone..” He didn’t like the North, and he didn’t like Saigon’s corrupt thieves that we put in power. Like many folks around the world, he just wanted his people to be LEFT ALONE!!

More than a million dead Vietnamese, 58,000+ American troops. In Afghanistan/Iraq we’ve lost over 5,000 troops, they’ve lost over 200,000 CIVILIANS! The overwhelming number of dead in the Gaza/Israel “fight” are civilians in Gaza, some 2,000, while Israel has lost 3 (THREE) civilian casualties, and one of those was delivering food to a military unit at the time.

You learn to care about people, after you’ve killed a bunch of them. That is why the majority of our career military folks see PEACE as their profession, not war. It is the “chickenhawks” who don’t know what war is, who love it best, and their closest idea of what it means is a Schwarzenegger, or Bruce Willis, movie, where the hero always wins. (Usually by killing all 500 of his attackers who have automatic weapons with his six-shot revolver.)

Now that reminds me of something funny. You see, the old movie revolvers that never had to be reloaded were actually loaded with special blanks that would fire six or more times from a single cartridge. They had a fuse timer that would pop, then burn for a few seconds and pop again, for a single trigger pull. So if you’re watching an old movie and see smoke flash out of the barrel of the gun at some awkward angle, that’s because the actor misjudged the timing and it made it past the cutting room. That’s why they never stopped to reload.

I had a friend in college who had been a theater projectionist when in high school. He said they wrote on the wall the name of the movie and how many shots a six-shooter fired without reloading. Gary Cooper in High Noon was the first reloading I ever saw on-screen.
