Hope all those right-to-life folks who beat their chests over paying for their employees’ birth control are lining up to “sponsor” those poor kids. HOBBY LOBBY could be a great. place to house them plus there are so many locations. Why they could even hire the children…that would cut their salary expenses way down. (Snark)

With people like you in America (almost certainly descended from immigrants), we should just tear down the Statue of Liberty and ship it back to France. Remember “Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to be free”? By the way, I do carry the DNA of those who “met the boat,” and my European side of the family predates Ellis Island. That side of the family started coming here in 1638, and they were all here prior to 1815.

All the poor kids the president is importing? I’m guessing you want someone else to pay for Obama’s indiscretion?

Would you send your kids on a dangerous thousand mile trip to enter a country where they will have nothing and can’t speak the language and may be sent back? The conservatives would like to put them all in a truck and drop them off in square of their home city. That probably is not even possible. This is a real problem that needs some creative solutions, not a lot of political sniping.

Has anyone seen the movie “El Norte”? I saw it back in the 90s. A good movie about illegal immigration from the viewpoint of two illegal immigrants.

“Godless left…” So now if one is politically left you are both un-American and godless?
In your own postings today you have outed about half the population of our nation.

Like to explain in more detail exactly what that threat is?

If you are willing to send your children thousands of miles away with no promises of help at their destination, with no understanding of the language or customs, you are truly in a desperate situation. These kids are refugees, and there is a root cause that has little to do with whether we have a border fence.

Curing the symptom does nothing for the underlying problem.

“I’m going by the booing that went on at the last convention when God was invoked.”

It’s time someone brought that up. Glad you did.

In this one observer’s opinion, the reason for the unhappiness of the delegates was the fact that some Democrats (and even some Republicans) are not Christians. They are Buddhists, Toaists, Muslims, and even some atheists. To recognize one subset (even if it IS the most populous) to the exclusion of another is not what many democrats are about.

This is about respect and tolerance for other peoples’ viewpoints, and the booing was a result of the leadership’s lack of willingness to show this respect and tolerance. Too bad it looked like they were booing God.

Same thing when a person says “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”. One can interpret that as a respect for all the people who celebrate religious holidays that fall near the end of December. One can also interpret this as a “War on Christmas”. The facts are the same, but one can certainly choose alternative interpretations.

You specifically used the term un-American when posting on Lisa Benson’s toon today.

The booing you refer to wasn’t against God but rather against the way a vote was “counted.”
“The same people against the church…” The net you cast over reaches by miles.

Hey, Signe, you make an excellent point! Let the federal government pay for it, I agree. I know you are using the ridiculous metaphor of them actually living at the White House to make your point, very clever! Yes, I agree with your suggestion. We need to immediately allocate emergency federal funds to house as many of these children as possible. I want an immediate vote in the House to appropriate emergency funds. Let the Republicans and Democrats show bipartisan support in this time of humanitarian crisis. What, wait? Not all Republicans see the need to act to help these children? That’s too bad. I bet the fastest growing voter block in America will remember this in November.

Once again, Obama’s getting slagged for obeying a law passed under the previous guy, George W. Bush. It’s the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, known as the TVPRA, passed unanimously by both houses and signed by Bush.
