So far, the overwhelming majority of the melting has been sea ice, which does NOT raise sea levels. And, of course, 2013 saw about 50% more Arctic sea ice at minimum than the record low of 2012 (so only 6th smallest since we’ve been keeping track, but clear proof that the Arctic sea ice is growing again, so the single year 2013 proves we’re no longer seeing any global warming).

Glaciers have been melting in Europe, but they don’t represent very much ice. If Greenland melts, the rise will be significant, but no one expects that before the end of this century, so not to worry, we won’t be around to see it.

The fresh water supplies of many Pacific island nations are being threatened to the point that plans are being made to relocate people, but that is not REALLY happening – need to stick my head deeper into the sand….

Observations have shown that the land ice melts from the bottom up and will suddenly slide into the water. 98% of glaciers have been shown to be melting back. The water cycle has shown itself to be operating faster than before. More water vapor in the air.

If all the land ice melts in just Greenland could raise the oceans by as far as 23 feet.

Just paving has increased the chance of flooding in places that never flooded before. That is without any added rain. Now add the extra rain caused by Global Warming.

The oceans are not going to rise any higher tan what they were during the Medieval Warm Period.

I would like to point out that sea levels are rising. Nations have flooded – some to the point that they are looking to migrate. Those who are quick to politicize this as a global warming discussion lack human compassion. Look up the nation of Kiribati.

Assertion based on words quoted out of context to support the “Truthiness” of your position ? The statement meant nothing like your Rep-Con “talking point”:
“Our time to offer a new direction for this country that we love. The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. … I face [this challenge] with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people, because if we are willing to work for it and fight for it and believe in it then I am absolutely certain that generations from now we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs for the jobless. This was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. This was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.” http://tinyurl.com/larxron

Gee, this kinda reminds me of all the UNINSURED PEOPLE you see in the Hospital ER’s across the country, getting their doctor care PAID FOR BY INCREASING YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUMS.

But I guess Republicans love that concept, with their complete opposition to the Affordable Care Act.

Are these plans being made by the likes of Hank Johnson (D-GA), who famously expressed his concern to Admiral Robert Willard, head of the US Pacific Fleet, about a build-up of military on Guam: ""My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize."

How do you know this? There is no limit to the warming that will happen globally. We as a species are producing an average rate of increase of just CO2 alone at 4%-6%. Worse case will happen and it could be as high as 9-11 degrees C additional to what we experience now.
