…one thing’s for sure most huge corporations never will.

Philly’s not alone. Many other major urban cities across the country are well on their way due to decades of Big-government Democrats spending other people’s money with no concern as to who will pay for it.

And the entire nation is still suffering from the GOP’s spending like a drunken sailor during the Bush years.
They cut taxes on the rich and started two wars without thinking of what would happen. That was actually the first time that we went to war without raising taxes.

Give us a break, Obama is worse than even the shrub. I thought nobody could be worse than Clinton and then Baby Bush was, then I thought nobody could be worse than Baby Bush and now Obama is. He’s given more money to wall street banksters, kept Bushes wars going in the middle east, and dumped Obamacare on us.Obama will be remembered as the worst potus ever.

funny how the govt could bail out the banks, but not detroit. it’s probably because the people in detroit don’t kick back to fund congresspersons.

You forget the cardinal rule of conservative commentary; conservatives and their policies are never, ever wrong according to conservatives. You have to remember that when commenting here.

Over the next decade, we will see more and more cities go the way of Detroit if we fail to act. Action is no longer a priority in a nation where party is more important than being a democratic republic. Each of our cannibalistic parties wants to be the ONLY party thereby becoming an oligarchy.
There are MANY ways to fix this problem, but it requires civility and respect and dialogue. Something that is in very short supply.
    Sadly,

Left out 40 years of political corruption (the former mayor is in prison, so a former councilwoman and several members of their staffs: at one point 5 of the 9 members of Council were under state or federal corruption)

If only corporations weren’t backed by the full strength of the federal government.
Why aren’t cities “too big to fail?”

We could go the “Robo Cop” way and allow giant corporations to take over cities, maybe even whole states to “fix” them.

Also the Unions (what is left of them) are out spent 17 to 1 by corporations.

Quite odd how increasing Taxes does not reduce deficits as Liberals like Ms. Wilkinson claims, for if that were true, Detroit would not have to file for bankruptcy.

    @onguard

Truth needs to be based on provable, verifiable facts; otherwise, it’s just your strongly held opinion. God is love is something I have faith in, I can’t prove to anyone God exists, but because I believe its true, I feel a need to be civil when I can.
    I think we agree.
@ Night Gaunt49 – With police drones on the way, NSA phone/computer mining, the PRISM court, and the general "ends justify means psychology in gov’t and corporate thinking, It is my fear we are already moving quickly in that direction.
    Respectfully,
    C.

It is not a question of “if” but “when” the first armed drones are used in a police function. Probably will be hidden for a time behind “gas explosions” etc) but sooner-or-later-they will be used here. What is used over seas is ready to be used here.
