It looks like the U.S. Open is also the U.S. Closed due to the monsoon that hit Philadelphia yesterday.

Just about every week a golf tournament gets rain delayed.
The worst was the LPGA in the Bahamas. Had to close 6 holes and play a 12 hole course over 3 days.
I wonder if there are more rain delays or if I am watching more on TV.

Seriously? No education? Personally I am glad my dentist has some education when she fills a cavity. I am relieved the people operating on my daughter last fall had their degrees and knew what they were doing. Good grief- are you advocating that we go back to the Stone Age or something?

Think about this information found on PBS.org in the finance section.

“It’s a little known fact that when it comes to the funding of our schools, the U.S. Government contributes about 10 cents to every dollar spent on K-12 education – less than the majority of countries in the world”

“So where does the bulk of the money for our 14,000 public elementary and secondary school districts schools come from? State and local governments. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, state and local funding accounts for approximately 93 percent of education expenditures.”

Basic education is YOUR responsibility. Each community must allocate funds for the K-12 system that prepares every child for higher education. The GOP has NOTHING to do with it.

It would seem that you missed out on your chance at education.

Right the Teachers Unions have nothing to do with it at all.

Ouch and the above worth repeating.

Plenty of cash to pay grown men to play little boys’ games on a field, but not enough money to teach kids to make our lives, our country or our species better.
    Priorities? What are those?

You’ve been so busy blaming everything on Obama, you missed it. The economy is improving. Unemployment is down, wages are up. The government is deficit is dropping due to increased tax revenues. Just think how much sooner we could have been at this point if the Republicans had been willing to work WITH Obama instead of trying to oppose him.

Funny how the American public will spend lots of money to go to a ball game but think it’s outrageous to spend money on our children’s education…

Hmmn…so I suppose “State and local governments” have no party affiliation?

Funny—-I could’ve sworn there were Democrats, Republicans, and Independents involved in our State’s budget decisions. Why golly! Even our cities and towns seem to have elections for public office serving.

I never knew the political parties only exist at the Federal level.

Hey Bruce—thanks for the continuing education…and you too, Jack for caring enough to help teach by sharing!

This is NOT what most Americans want. But those that can afford to go golfing every day, or belong to a golf club, or own a golf Club, or go to, be in or owning a Nascar, those that are teetering on or think they might be,someday, one of the elite 1%, they are out to get everything they possibly can.
The CEOs’ greed is being greatly rewarded.
the 90% whose real income hasn’t advanced in the last 20 years have no money,,have no say.
I mis the days when the rich felt (Nobless Obligee). I know that is spelled wrong. But back when the rich felt they should give to the welfare ( for the common good) of society.

Ok one, why the need to address it to me and not Bruce. I was just agreeing with what he said. Second your comment only works if you go to each state and which party is to blame and then state who is the worst of the two.

You will also have to figure in how the Teachers Union figured into each state.

Loved Ronald Reagan but I would not go quite that far. You would not want a Doctor who did not go to medical school before his internship or even a certified book keeper (in some states that is less then an accountant).

One of my teachers said, and I think this is one of the great lessons I learned, with an education you can re-educate yourself when the time comes.

If only GOP would spend a few hours out of every day actually trying to govern instead of attacking the president we could solve a few problems. I’m not holding my breath. No honor. None at all.
