Whatever one feels about the Roman Catholic Church, the immediate future certainly looks like it will be entertaining.
Boy, I wish I was a whole bunch of flies on a lot of walls inside there at the moment.
And some people are surely squirming. The comfortable ride is going to get rather bumpy.

And Obama is still president. Get on with your life Ima. There are 1 billion plus people to whom this DOES matter. Read some world history to figure out why!

Nice cartoon. It hadn’t occurred to me that if they HAD chosen a pope from Africa, The Onion could have re-run it’s headline “Black Man Given World’s Worst Job.”

Christianity was founded on the teachings and ministry of a man who railed against the corruption and abuse of organized religion of his time. How sad that the organized religions that claim to spread Christ’s teachings have themselves become corrupt, abusive, and oppressive.

Entertaining to disinterested middle class straight men, perhaps. I highly doubt those who are ignored or oppressed by Church dogma find it so.

He’s gonna need that extra-strength cleanser. You know, the one that’s labeled “for use on built-up lies, corruption and malfeasance”.

    Can’t argue with that.
I hope all other religions clean up their acts in this regard. Especially the Dalai Lama’s group.
And then they go after the Atheists. They’re no better than any other.
And finally root out all institutions that have no affiliations to anything but have harmed children.

First one that protects child molesters, and now one that surpressed opposition to a dictatorial government that specialized in killing its own people. Apparently there’s just no cardinal left who’s followed Christ’s teachings.

More cover ups. More of the same. It’s tradition.

“Apparently there’s just no cardinal left who’s followed Christ’s teachings.”

Are you surprised? The self professed one true church has had little to to with Christ’s actual teachings since it was organized.

“Pray tell me just HOW it is that the Church’s teachings are so oppressive to you? Sheeeeesh! Grow up and get a life, will ya? If you aren’t Catholic, what difference does all this make to you anyway?”

I’m gay. The Catholic Church has spent millions of dollars to make sure gays are continued to be denied equal rights. I don’t share the your church’s beliefs, but they work to force their beliefs on me. That is not Christian.

You call yourself a Christian, but you’re comments are constantly rude and snarky. Your tone tells me don’t care about my answer. You just wanted an opportunity to look down on someone. Nastiness isn’t Christian. You have the right to live your life as you see fit, so long as it doesn’t harm or interfere with the lives of others. Believe what you want. Practice your pseudo-Christian religion all you want. I just don’t care. Just stop using those beliefs to deny others the same rights as you have.

They had to — HAD TO — get into the schools and indoctrinate young, impressionable minds. They had to decide to change marriage (or attempt to, since you cannot change marriage any more than you can change a dog into a cat).

That is such a load of crap. Indoctrination? Seriously? Trying to tell kids to respect others who are different then you is indoctrination to you? No more so than when they had to recite the Pledge of Allegiance or all of the pseudo-Christians who push.in-school prayer.

As for marriage, I will remind you that in this country, marriage is a legal entity. It’s a contract regestered with the government. You can get legally married without a minister officiating, but you can NOT get legally married without a government issued license. That legal definition HAS changed over the years. During the dark days of legalized slavery (a concept heartily endorsed by God in the Christian Bible), marriages between blacks were not legally recognized. The legal definition was eventually change. Still, some states refused to recognize mixed race marriages. The legal definition was again eventually changed to include them.

Once again, you may define your religious marriage any way you want. Your church does not have to recognize any marriage it doesn’t want to. That is your and their right. However, you and they use your beliefs to prevent others from their equal rights under the law. That is wrong. That is un-American.
