Yeah, those catholic women ought to convert to Islam where they’ll be treated really good.

The Vatican is just a club for certain old men, anyway. Scourge, anyone?

Maybe they shouldn’t convert to anything at all and realise their full potential without resorting to any religion and, more importantly, once “rational” or “irrational” men have dropped their asinine complexes against women.

Even the Medicis and Borgias chose from among the clergy. Granted, they turned their own candidates into priests and then promoted them to cardinals, but this cartoon makes no sense at all.

It’ll take awhile for them. Gotta star ordaining women as priests first. But there’s a pretty big movement for it, so maybe some day (though hardly in the next ten years).

For the first time since 1914, when Pope Benedict XV was elected, Philadelphia will not have a vote in the College of Cardinals. From 1918-2011, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia was led by a cardinal.
Today, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is led by an archbishop, Charles Chaput. He is the first archbishop to lead the archdiocese since 1918.

Can she meet the physical requirements? I mean, you need a pretty strong neck to wear that ridiculous hat all day!

So the prediction is that, in 10 years, not only will there be women priests, but at least one of them will have become a cardinal.

And there will still be print newspapers.

    Gutsy predictions, both.

Theoretically any Catholic — lay or otherwise — is eligible to be Pope, though in practice it doesn’t happen these days. As for a female pope…well, if anything the Church has hardened its stance against female priests, which is too bad. They already allow a few married priests, which gives you some idea how hard-core they are about this, because they brought over some married Episcopalians who hated the idea of women being priests and moved to the Catholic Church instead. So that has reinforced it even further: even married priests are better than female ones, from their point of view.
    Pray for a John XXIII.
