RIP Sally Star. Another star of the 50’s leaves us…She was an icon in Philadelphia for decades and a very diverse entertainer.

Good bye Sally. You were a major part of my childhood. By the way how many people remember Willie the Worm and his annual trip to the North Pole to see Santa.

Thanks – I was as clueless as the guy on the bus. RIP Sally – apparently ya done good!

Sally was a class act until the end, and was active until just last year. She still had her own radio show and was still making appearances. She died just two days after her 90th birthday.

Sally always wore a cowgirl outfit (even into her late 80s) and was treasured by kids throughout the Philadelphia area. Her show featured Popeye cartoons and Three Stooges shorts. She even appeared as “Belle Starr” in the last feature-length film made by the Three Stooges at Columbia Pictures, the 1965 western comedy, “The Outlaws IS Coming!”

We haven’t had a loss on the level of Sally’s loss in Philadelphia since we lost Harry Kalas on April 13, 2009.
Unfortunately, it looks like we’re not going to have W. Carter Merbreier (Captain Noah) very much longer, judging by the interview he gave on WPVI (6abc) the other day.

Well, there’s still Gene London.

never heard of her
Adrian Snare said, 4 months ago
how can she be a “loss” if she lived to be 90
the real loss is the 47 million “murdered” babys
the fix is NOT to ban legal abortion but to have a better people and this will take time.

Boise Ed,
You are misreading the cartoon. The woman is speaking to the man next to her. He is pointing to the crying woman with the newspaper that has the headline “Our Gal Sal” and obviously wondering what is going on.
