Where is the polling place that does not require some sort of ID in America? In such a place I’m sure the citizens realized a long time ago not to bother to show up…Because that means your vote doesn’t count!

Good toon. I’m still surprised the Dems spent all that money just to allow people to vote without showing an ID.

Until this year, no polling place in Pennsylvania required an ID, unless you were a first-time voter at a polling place.
The new voter ID law was just struck down in court, as it did not allow sufficient time for all voters to obtain a proper ID.
Also, some Republicans, who control all three branches of the state government, had openly said that the law was designed to give Romney the win in Pennsylvania.

plus, the media showcased some elderly vets who don’t drive the multiple hoops they have jump through to get a voter id card. one was even awarded the bronze star. and, a what if scenario, if the dems still vote, what then? will the gop enact other laws for voters to vote, like literacy tests, poll tax, or, doing the hokey pokey?

Don’t worry about that. The Republicans are already working on the problem. It would seem several state Republican parties and the Romney campaign hired a dodgy company to commit voter registration fraud.

@Murphy224
What ACTUALLY happened is that a number of people decided to protect American citizens’ sacred right to vote against a law deliberately designed to disenfranchise a significant portion of the population because it might vote Democratic. And a judge took note, because it was self-evident that this was the case, and of course was supported by a statement caught on video by a GOP leader. If you don’t think that’s a bad thing, you really don’t understand America.

The dems need all the unregistered and undocumented voters they can to win this time.

Your local media may have been a little disingenuous in their reporting. The last I read on this subject, PA local unions and community groups were going organize and provide transportation for those people that needed to get an I.D. Did something happen to that?

“The dems need all the unregistered and undocumented voters they can to win this time.”
It would seem the Republicans feel they need to resort to voter registration fraud to win.

In FL I still have to make an appointment to go to the drivers license bureau, show my birth certificate, social security card and TWO forms of address and pay $54 to vote.

Those folks needed to know that the help was available first, and then they had to ask. The unions and local community groups could not kidnap people from their homes and force them to get the documents. But any excuse to serve a tyrant huh mike? It all boils down to no matter what provisions were put in place to help those without the approved ID get one, they were limited in time to do it. If this were such an urgent issue, to get voter suppresssion, I mean voter ID laws enacted, why wasn’t it done after the 2010 election? Or the 2008? It was done for the sole purpose of disenfrachising the presumably democratic voter and all the reTHUGlicans know it.
TheTrustedMechanic said, 8 months ago
The reTHUGlicans scream about the Constitution being trampled when it comes to all things that they care about, but when it actually comes down to the very sacred RIGHT to vote they wish to violate the very constitution they “hold so dear”. One can argue that there is no explicit enumeration of the right to vote in the Constitution but with the many, many references of prohibitions to limitation on the ability to vote it is clear that the founding fathers considered it a fundamental right if not a necessary act in order support the country. And it is undeniable that it all comes down to the reTHUGlicans are trying to suppress the presumably democratic voter. Even their own have admitted that they can’t find substantial evidence (like one instance per state per year on average) of in person voter fraud. Now if you consider absentee ballot (usually favors reDUMBlicans) fraud then you can find greater evidence of “large scale” (more than 1 per state per year on average) instances of voting fraud, but all of the laws the reTHUGlicans are pushing conveniently ignore or omit absentee ballot voting. Maybe when the reDUMBlicans get some credibility and can demonstrate an actual problem they will be taken seriously.

So funny Turzai can’t say his voter suppression law will guarantee R’money victory. Love listening the the Whiners crying foul that they can’t stop black people from voting.

For anyone who wishes to blow the hot air of voter ID laws are necessary because one fraudulent vote undermines all of the legitimate votes, what about all the legitimate voters who were prevented from voting by those very efforts to prevent the (republican demonstrated) nearly non-existent fraudulent votes? Claim all you want about the dead, illegal aliens and pets voting but it just doesn’t happen, not on the scale you claim. Even the republican lawyers association could not find 500 instances of voter fraud over a ten year period, not one per state per year on average. So please do explain to me how your efforts to prevent such a miniscule amount of fraudulent votes being cast justifies denying hundreds of thousands of legitimate voters their Constitutionally protected right to vote? Oh, that’s right you can’t, because it is indefensible. And by the way, Yes I have a state issued picture ID, I have a township issued voter ID, I have several state issued licenses without pictures so I am not one of the disenfranchised, I’m not one of the suppressed voters, and I VOTE!
