Well when you are hanging out with an out of control group throwing objects at cops, you should expect a bad ending. They should just cancel these dumb parades.

Nice to know how strong your support is for our constitutional right to assemble. Why is it that conservatives think there’s only one amendment in the bill of rights, and only the second half of that one?

@ARodney
You’re right. Conservatives do only support part of one amendment to the Bill of Rights.
They do oppose the right to assemble, the right to free speech (unless paid for by billionaires) and the right to freedom of religion. They still think Obama is a Muslim, even though he got in trouble for being a member of a Christian church where the pastor preached “God damn America” from the pulpit! Even if Obama WAS a Muslim, that’s one of the core values of America, where he has that freedom.
They also oppose the rights given by the 4th, 5th (unless they have to testify) the 6th and the 8th Amendments.
On the other hand, I think they would be up in arms if the 3rd Amendment didn’t exist and we had mandatory quartering of troops! ;-)

You have to understand. Conservatives are all for their rights. It’s your rights they have a problem with.

Blame the victim. It was a parade and a member of the public celebrating or in the audience watching the parade now has to answer for everyone else’s actions in that audience. Do you ever attend a cinema, theatre, game, circus or 4th of July parade? If the crowd becomes a little enthusiastic, watch out, you must step in and control your fellow crowd-participants else you’re to blame as well.

The Time Newsfeed
said on 3 October 2012 that the video just shows the police office apparently hitting the woman. I trust Time. We can’t possibly know until this has been fully investigated if he actually hit her.

The right to assemble does not include pouring a liquid (water probably?) on an officer. I stepped through the video and it looks like she was in the wrong place when some guy behind her threw the liquid and the officer assumed (mistakenly?) that it was her. It sort of appears that she extends an arm and does her own pouring, though.

Right because cops can do whatever they want to you even when you are innocent because you are hanging out with people throwing WATER not objects. Throwing water, which this woman DID NOT DO, most assuredly deserves being punched in the face. Dude are you kidding me? Did you move here from 70s era Soviet Union or have you just never read our constitution. You live in America, maybe you should learn how our laws and constitution work eh?

The Philly cops got a black eye from one of their republican lieutenants fooling around.

@HOWGOZIT
I find this entire blog silly and childish. So the world is divided into “liberals” and “conservatives” and every single person in these two groups all believe exactly the same things as each other and there are no shades or nuances, just absolute orthodoxy and all issues in this complex world of ours fall into one or the other category? Really? Seriously?

Thank you for the link!
.
Oy!
.
And water? Really! You punched a woman in the mouth and arrested her for water? (which she didn’t throw)
.
I don’t know that it was the water or what but I still don’t see how she deserved to be “shot in the back” like that.

Every time a cop sucker-punches a woman in the face or pepper sprays a harmless old lady, he puts every other cop’s life in jeopardy.

Yes listen to us liberals praise our Constitution as Americans and the rights it grants us. I guess you are saying conservatives do not like our Constitution and do not believe in the rights rights it grants. Thank you for telling us what we already knew…

I’ll try to make this simple so our rightwingers can understand it. Any right you claim for yourself you must grant to others. Any right you would deny others you must deny yourself. So if you would deny others the right to marry whom they choose you must be willing to give up that right yourself. If you claim the right to demand others respect your religion then you must grant them the right to require you to respect theirs. It’s called being fair. Get it?
