One reason why so little or nothing is being done to improve the situation in inner cities like the one portrayed in THE WIRE.

^ just one question how, I would love to see the inner cities plight relieved, LBJ declared war on poverty in the 60’s to no avail, state and local governments have thrown millions to no avail, again how. just throwing cash doesn’t seem to work.

I got that way when I was in Houston. That’s life in the big city. Thinning the herd. Saw so many fatal accidents on the road, that I would forget about it 5 minutes later. Saw stuff on the news and think, same old same old.

The War on Poverty came up short. The War on Drugs has proven ineffective. The NRA maintains a glut of handguns.

Past time to revisit our approach to all three problems, who knows they may interrelate, just thinking outloud.

For all you NRA bashers, ever stop to think that the NRA membership does not commit these crimes? Why punish them for what someone else does? The NRA is the only organization I know of that keeps getting criticized for defending the Constitution.

And yet all conservatives that I know of want to dismantle the ACLU whose sole mission is to defend the Bill of Rights!

“LBJ declared war on poverty in the 60’s to no avail,”

    Not true.

We were WINNING the war. Poverty was down, Illiteracy was down, Violence was down, racial discrimination was down.

    And then along came Ron!

Slash the budgets! No more funds for day care, slash the funding for “Head Start” count Ketchup as a vegetable!

12 years later LA is on fire again.

The War On Poverty is only a failure because the Wars on Greed” and Stupidity” were failures!

It just makes me sad to see how the right’s failures have morphed into “common knowledge” that the left’s programs don’t work.

Greed is part of capitalism, but ever stopped to think there is a reason all religions made it a sin?
