Speaking as one of the common men of America, as a solid, old fashioned mid-westerner, as a sort of “Joe Sixpack”, if you will, (and I’d rather you didn’t), I don’t hate any of these women.
I mean, Palin and Nancy Pelosi irritate the living hell out of me,but that has nothing to do with the fact that they’re women.

This is something for some folks to think about. I’ve never understood the immediate visceral animosity for Pelosi.

This is a point, but equating Palin and Bachmann to Clinton and Pelosi is an insult to the Democrats.

Pants suit with a x prez for a beard and the multi millionaire hippy chick grandma that will cry for the little guy.? Nope Do not “hate” them. In fact I respect Hillery, she is a real political animal and am very happy she did not get the nominee. The damage she could have done compared to the very green prez we have now. I shudder to think. As for the the rich B.. She has all the left wing answers just ask her.
The other two, Palin needs polishing, and I do not know enough about the other.

I get the point of the cartoon, but it’s not true. GOP hates on Obama waaaay more than Hillary, no?

Yep. The cartoon isn’t true.
It’s Obama first and foremost who is making a sick mockery of everything the American Revolution was fought for. And Nutsy Pelosi being a far-left fruitcake with no more common sense than a 2-year-old grabbing candy off the shelves in a grocery store is why she’s second on the list.
The woman literally isn’t sane. If all of her desired policies were put into affect, America would cease to function as a society within 10 years, tops. There would be race rioting, mass starvation, martial law, and a complete and total economic collapse that would cause America to quickly become poorer than Zimbabwe.
Obama has more than likely already sent America down the road of the Weimar Republic. I believe he is deliberately destroying our economy–our DOLLAR– so the Demoncrats can declare “A State of Emergency”, and seize total and complete control of both the Federal and State governments from top to bottom.
One Party Rule is every Demoncrat’s wet dream. Has been since the 1930’s. They pretty much had it for 40 years, with only the occasional GOP President elected to slow down their suicidal march off a cliff. But now they’re in a psoition of total raw, unchecked political power, and I greatly fear the Demoncrats intend to never surrender it again–no matter what they have to do, or how much damage they have to cause, to hold onto it.

Signe,
The ‘toon does provide a powerful message but I find myself agreeing with Iamthelorax and, to a point, scottfreitas.
The GOP truly froths at the mouth over Obama.
I agree with you that Pelosi is up there at the number 2 spot. If Hillary were elected she would be in the number 1 spot, no arguement.
For the other side of the panel -honestly I don’t know that the GOP has a sufficiently consolidated party that any 2 people jump out over others. Palin does have name/face recognition and she does generate venemous responses in people I know and work with who are normally quite calm. Actually, in my experience, they’re all women who openly have problems with Palin. However I know a number of democrats who like Sarah Palin being the face of the GOP because it alienates moderates and some republicans. They don’t want her to be president but they’re planning to provide money to her campaign if she runs…because “She’s better at getting people to vote democrat than Obama.”
I’ve never heard of Bachmann but as I said I don’t think the GOP is solid enough right now for any one person to generate that much energy. The quite far left side of the Dems seem to be starting to froth over Obama as well.
I believe the ‘toon’s point is still valid. If there’s any positive note I think its that all the women listed can handle it and show future generations that its tough but doable.

I don’t know why I bother, but here goes:
scott–
The Weimar Republic had hyperinflation. Some right-wing bloviators are using the term incorrectly to describe the minor inflation going on currently (and during the Bush Administration, incidentally). There are several descriptions, but in general they describe:
The example to which you erroneously refer was an average inflation rate of 322% per month from August 1922 to November 1923, and sometimes doubled or tripled in a single day.
More recently, we’ve seen true hyperinflation in Argentina; in the 1980s they knocked four zeros off the currency, for example.
It can be to the advantage of a debtor nation (like ourselves) because, in effect, it becomes cheaper to pay off your loans.
One definition I looked at refers to the notion that it is due to social breakdown, rather than vice versa, so why not join the rest of us in United States?
Equalist said, about 1 month ago
First, women complained that none were in positions of power. Now that women have positions of power, some are actually being criticized! Oh, dear, how tough it is to be a woman. (Of course, if women in power weren’t targets of criticism, then feminists would complain that men were being patronizing.) Okay: all women, no matter what they do, are right. And, all men, no matter what they do, are sexist. Now, let’s move on to something else.

bradwilliams: that or something else, maybe dropped on his head, or maybe he’s just a psychopath
As for the GOP hating Obama more than Hillary, I don’t think they’d hate him so much if he hadn’t been elected president.
For those of you who don’t know who Bachmann is: you’re not paying attention. Google “Bachmann”+”sex clinics” for a start.
Kylop said, about 1 month ago
Motive, while your persistence is admirable I want to ask if you’ve heard of the definition for insanity being “Doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result” ?
Annamargaret1866 I agree with you about Obama/Hillary. If the Dems ran Mr Rogers (if he were still alive) and he won the Reps would be just as vitriolic toward “a beautiful day in the neighborhood”.
I don’t doubt that Bachmann is low on the list for “Ms Congeniality” but she’s not that well known -to me.
annamargaret1866 said, about 1 month ago
Kylop, Bachmann is a semi-regular on Olbermann and Maddow. Reading her rants would give you the general idea, but for more realism of her fantasies (or something like that), maybe you can find video at Olbermann’s and Maddow’s sites.

“This is a point, but equating Palin and Bachmann to Clinton and Pelosi is an insult to the Democrats….”
I was about to say the same thing…er…..well…with a little change….
… equating Palin and Bachmann to Clinton and Pelosi is an insult to the Republicans…..(laughing….see how easy it is to paint with a large brush…..winks)

Well, johndh123, I didn’t feel I needed to give details, but Bachmann in particular strikes me as an attention-seeking whack-job…
fennec said, about 1 month ago
Off-subject, but has anyone around here noticed that when someone on this site wishes to put down and devalue someone else’s opinion, that person often designates their opponent as a female? I have noticed this from both sides of the political spectrum. I wonder if Signe hasn’t noticed this kind of thing and is maybe commenting on it?
motivemagus said, about 1 month ago
Good point, fennec. It’s one of scottfreitas’ favorite insults, to call someone “feminized.” Obviously he is not aware, as you and I are, that the “generic” mammal *is* female, and the rest of us are the product of testosterone-based modification, or, in some cases, poisoning…
fennec said, about 1 month ago
Yes, but scott is only the most egregious of those who do this. What about those who have decided that the Pup and ANandy are female? My instinct tells me they are male (but that’s only my instinctual response). And remember when someone (I forget whom) addressed tpenna as a female. He has said he’s male, but they were trying to discount his opinion. Signe is on to something here, I think. (And it is amusing to know that the female is the type specimen, isn’t it?)
motivemagus said, about 1 month ago
Yes, I think you’re right. It does suggest something about our society, I think.
You know, the Vikings (who were far more civilized than most people realize, having been the victims of bad press), set levels of “weregild” to be paid as part punishment for murdering someone. An woman without children was equal to a full-fledged warrior. A woman who had borne children was worth more. Makes you think, doesn’t it?

@ johndh123 : I think it’s a matter of seniority. When Pelosi gets vilified as long as either of the Clintons have, we can equate them. You are comparing a rookie to a grand master here :)

bradwilliams, yes, scottf was not only not held enough as a baby but must have been denied nourishment on a regular basis.
And the insults calling this a feminized congress in a derogatory way, does tell us that there still is disrespect for women.
BTW, why do some posters think Pup and AnAndy are female?

deahead, ANandy has on a couple occaions challenged opposing posters - “as to what makes you think I’m a male”. Don’t know if it was just a barb or serious. The pup is just an inscure youngster that can’t keep tack with what he has posted, just tries to be the center of attention.

rikoshayrabbit said, about 1 month ago
I’ve read several of ANandy’s notes to conclude she’s a she. And I don’t think she likes black people. I can read just about any opinion there is and shrug past it, but racism is the lowest level of ignorance and filth that a human can descend to.

Motivemagus, «weregild» is a term in Germanic law which much antedates the Vikings. The corresponding terms in Swedish and Danish were mansbot and mandebod, respectively….
