Good example of “crack-pot” extreme.
Dutchboy1 said, 2 months ago
Hey, that’s how the President and his guys look at the common citizen who don’t want those bills crammed down their throats, as “crack-pots” and “mobs”.
Fairportfan said, 2 months ago
Dutchbiy: You mean the “common citizens” who believe every one of the lies Rush and his GOP stooges have been telling them?
I call those “suckers” or “marks”.
Dutchboy1 said, 2 months ago
You mean that all those recordings of Obama and his guys calling a bunch of old people “angry mobs” were just fabricated? I don’t think so. Try looking at the facts for a change instead of the Obama propaganda.

DB, I’m a common citizen and I guarentee that you DO NOT speak for me. I’ve had enough of the “crackpots” telling me what good government is or isn’t. I would like to state that I’m a conservative but with so many loonies on the loose I’ll hold my mark.
cdward said, 2 months ago
Hey DB, you fool, first of all, show me Obama calling those screaming folks “angry mob.” You made it up about him.
Second, every president since Reagan (at least) has addressed students at school in this manner. So why are you now freaking out about a speech that only tells kids to stay in school, to not talk back, to work hard? Because you are a fool. You bought those lies by Rush about indoctrination.
Why don’t YOU try looking at the facts? The facts are, the president regularly addresses kids, and Obama is one of the few who did NOT push a political agenda. Reagan (I read the transcript of his ‘88 address yesterday) tried to push tax cuts to those kids. You make yourself a fool every time you type.

Personally I’m fed up with the far-right propaganda and lies.

Excluded from the speech to work on school work. The speech will be viewed at home with parents.
Parents can really use the sterilized speech to motivate there child.

At first I was opposed to all these protests, but then I started hearing something about the theme of the speech being “how can I help the President”. That’s kind of creepy.
Any truth to that? I originally thought Obama was doing something akin to Bush’s sitting in a class and reading. Thought the speech was going to be purely education-related.

Community organizers gather concerned citizens; others organize mobs.
dmarkowski said, 2 months ago
iamthelorax: The original was written to have the students write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. The blow up was the wording “help the president”. The point of the ‘assignment’ was to have the students write their goals towards education addressed to themselves to be opened at a later date so they can see if they achieved their goals (which would be the point of the speech Obama gave) or remind themselves of said goal. But because of the wording, there was uproar over an agenda that never was there.
I remember when I did this in school as well. I addressed to myself in a sealed envelope goals I set for the school year and my teacher handed them out at the end. It was a great way to start a goal driven attitude that made me personally responsible for achieving it. I thought it was a great exercise that I still do it to this day. It kinda like a new year’s resolution.
As far as the speech goes, I was able to dig up a transcript on a local news web site: http://www.whsv.com/home/headlines/57653052.html

Since when does the Left allow saying the Pledge of Allegiance in government schools?
Dutchboy1 said, 2 months ago
I actually heard an ad from the Left where there were a bunch of kids pledging to do this, that, and the other thing (a bunch of socialist things) and they all end up saying with one voice ‘I pledge to be a servant of our president, Barrack Obama’. That really creeped me out.
Have they all forgotten what this country is all about? The people send politicians to Washington to do what they tell them to do, to represent them. In other words, Obama is SUPPOSED to be OUR servant, NOT the other way around!
Come on people, WAKE UP!
iamthelorax said, 2 months ago
Thanks for the link. Seems to be politics free (except for the questions at the end, the one about medicare looks like it was loaded), talks a lot about being in charge of your own success which I like…..don’t see how that fits into “helping the president” but anyway the speech is as I thought it would be.
motivemagus said, 2 months ago
Dutchboy, what on Earth are you talking about? An ad “from the Left?” “A bunch of socialist things?” I’ve never heard anyone use the pledge you cite. Sounds like something from a right-wing scare site to me.

The administrations love to throw up their trial balloons. IMO this administration threw the “assignment” to get students to list how they can serve the president out there to see what the reaction would be. If there was a negative reaction from the right then they could pull back (and use the neutered speech) and utilize all the press as a way to diminish/denegrade the right. If there was little negative reaction then they would have gotten the opportunity to address social or political issues within the speech. Its a win-win situation.

I pledge not to make corny videos.
I pledge not to wear the sheets on my bed.
Duncesboy1 , you must be really old to be calling them kids. I’ll admit many of them were in their 20’s but the one Guy looked 65.
I thought you said these were school kids, or I thought that’s what you meant. These were,( I think ) all actors, sports, or music people, you know HOLLYWOOD types.
Furthermore, a lot of people serve the PRESIDENT. ALL THE PRESIDENTS have had people to serve THEM. It’s considered an honor.
Everyone in the military is to pledge and serve the Commander in Chief. Guess rush didn’t tell you that.
The video was made by Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Obama had nothing to do with it.

dutchie is talking about a rabid right ad that’s deliberately appalling but he would have to be brain dead not to realize the ad’s intent … anti-Obama
I’d like to excuse from the country those who “excused” their kids from schools …. or find a home for them that can treat their mental diminishment disorder
