   They only supply the raw opium, it takes Europe and Americans to refine it past the medical grade opiates to street sale.

   Gratuitous jabs at Obama don’t advance any discussion. If you want to criticize, focus on the toon. This cartoon ought to provoke a lot of thought because it legitimately questions our activity in Afghanistan. I’m not sure the current strategy is the right one.

   Sure looks like it TP. According to the numbers I’ve seen, about 90% of the worlds raw opium comes from Afgh.

   My impression of Afghanistan, in which I took the southern tour - Herat, Kandahar, Kabul, and so over the border to Peshawar in Pakistan nearly 40 years ago, was that the Afghanis - the men, of course, one didn’t see Afghani women - were very welcoming, if one came as a guest. They were significantly less friendly if one came as an invader. Perhaps Mr Obama should reconsider his plans….
