Impeach on what grounds? Did he lie us into a war? Did he shred The Constitution for his politically expedient needs? Is that it?

See the problem is One side goes in and cleans up Muslim messes and protect Israel. the other side wants to portray them as yon has stated. That side wants to bend over backward and thinks kissing the Sauds and Muslim Feet might keep us safe. So when you go around stating things like that it makes them very weary that you see the problem and how it has been painted.
If we wanted the oil we should have just stayed in Kawit and After we cleaned up the mess that was Sadam insane we should have told them to give us free oil for saving them.
Nope we do not build nation. We try to let them build their self up so we can work with them.

Invading countries unless you mean to exterminate the present occupants is a pipe dream…or maybe better stated as a can of worms, sure to create more problems than it solves.

God told Joshua to kill all the people of the promised land. He didn’t now look at the situation.. That’s what you get for being peaceful and marrying the local beauties.

Even when you mean to exterminate the population, it rarely works. Didn’t work in America. Aside from Haiti, where the original inhabitants were literally killed off or sold into slavery by the Spanish, I don’t know of any other examples of an entire people being utterly wiped out.

“God” was constantly telling the Israelites to kill everyone on the land they wanted, not just Joshua. It also wasn’t just the Spanish who killed off the natives. The English, Germans, Irish, Scottish, French also took it deeply to heart in stealing the land from a decimated population. The real “savages” were the European invaders and their deep “religious” beliefs that told them to kill off the natives, and each other.

dtroutma, I partially agree. I wrote earlier that archaeological evidence shows that all that “kill everyone” language did not reflect reality. In fact, for the most part, Jews got along with neighbors – including in the time of Joshua – about as well as anyone else. The writing of history often include the divine to prove that God is on their side, but just because people say it doesn’t mean it’s true. Romans, for example, had no qualms about destroying entire peoples if they refused to submit, and they had no bible to work from. On the other hand, there are just as many places, even in the Old Testament, where the people are exhorted to treat all people well, especially the foreigner in their land. As I said before, the scriptures are not actual history mostly, nor are they pure step-by-step recipe book to eternity. They are a record of the people’s struggles with figuring out who God is. It is an ongoing conversation just like what we’re having – with lots of disagreement and some common ground.

Having said that, the Europeans (and later European-Americans) have wrought great horror through the centuries, often using their religion to justify their utterly selfish and unreligious ends. I do not believe most of them acted out of deep religious beliefs but used their religion as justification.

cd- “Man’s inhumanity to Man” is indeed a matter of fact, and written large in fable. Yes, wars get more coverage than peaceful relationships. That is why ALL religious zealots who take the “facts” from their texts to rationalize their horrors must be a terrible disappointment to the very deities they claim to observe.

Archeology is fascinating in large part because we DO find conflicts with the written record of those who “won” and recorded their “history”.
