Right! I was just going to comment that this should be a lesson in all those Fundamentalist Christian Schools, since stoning is highly advocated in the Bible.

In the interest of stirring up your “pure minds”, as my earthly mentor was wont to say…You, Christians (I assume your christian because you know so much about the Jewish and christian religions)are dwelling on the negative proscription against breaking the Mosaic Laws…yet you ignore the positive side which is the emphasis of the Jewish people on obedience to God’s laws, resulting from their FEAR of God and their adherence to and acceptance of the Mosaic covenant.I believe this is what Paul means by the Law being for the “law-breakers” not for the obedient.
Also these proscriptions were so arbitrary by the first century (having fallen into dis-use) that the teachers and Pharisees tested Jesus by bringing the woman caught in adultery to Jesus expecting him to conform to the “letter”of the Law and call for her stoning( and, thereby, to incite outrage against him); or to show that He had no authority and was a phony. But it is recorded that he said, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” And when no one responded -he forgave the lady and commended her on her way to living a godly life. A more clearer blessing upon and restoration to a sinner I don’t think can be found anywhere else in the Bible.

NoFearPup - actually, I agree with you. Modern fundamentalists are reading too literally in the Old testament and ignoring the New.
