Let them fail. I mean it was the Dems who promised to buy all those bad dept in the 1st place that started this mess. but why let fact get in the way of a good lynching?
I agree let them fail and maybe just maybe we can let this bubble pop instead of pumping it up even more.

Paulsen was the one who said to buy the debt.

Listening to the President the last couple of days, it’s sounding like you guys may get your wish on at least some of them. Some comments indicate that not all banks are going to be saved–some will go the way of Lehman Bros.

oh, harleyQ … it wasn’t the Dems at all, it was Bush’s Paulsen … remember, he got down on his knees and pleaded with Pelosi to keep the TARP bailout bill alive in the House … he sounded so confident i think i trusted that if the REPS were asking for a govt bailout, it would work
now with $350 billion of Tarp funds seemingly evaporating into thin air and not achieving the results he said it would, I have to wonder what his real motivation was … somebody’s got that $350 billion and my guess is it’s in the hands of a relatively few select people

Remember when McCain left his campaign because of the economy crisis? Paulson was warning of catastrophe then. Unfortunately those billions have evaporated into thin air.

Wait, Paulson and Bernanke are “Dems”?

Humphries: nah, we’d be betting the same way I expect. It will be quite telling. Perhaps archive some older ones before they get “accidentally” deleted…
bcs: You’re not implying there was any kind of payola going on there, now are you? =80 I’ve been suspecting the same all along; last-chance binge before the party’s over kind of thing.
