    Market metrics do not a healthy, wealthy nation make. As if numbers in a ledger mean anything in ethnically-cleansed Baghdad neighborhoods without electricity, security, sanitation, etc. Their surplus is less than AIG’s first bailout. Congress added 150B in bribes to get the bailout bill passed. We spend money like pharaohs outfitting pyramids for the afterlife, and begrudge the Iraqis a pittance.

    The comment is about what the soldiers can expect to see when they get home.
     
    Which includes no mental health assistance from the government.
     
    Military and veteran suicides are the highest they’ve been since the Viet Nam era … out of a smaller force.
