I don’t know where this is supposed to be based on, or when, or whether anybody’s pointed this out yet, but such shenanigans by a processor such as making her own copies would be very at risk for liability.
Also, in my day, when we came across anything even suspiciously pornographic, we were required to turn the film over to the RCMP for investivgation- and that usually meant that the photographer had to explain him/herself before they would release the film!

We used to get crime films that sometimes were too gory for the inspectors. I volunteered for that job. I wound up as a processor for law enforcement.

I find it neat that we have several people here who’ve worked in photo processing!

Every once in awhile I’d read stories about processors calling the police about porn or child porn. I could never understand why people thought they could get away with it. Now it’s digital but they still put it on the internet for others to see. Crazy people.l

You see just about everything, skjam. We did processing for several of the smaller city and college police departments, so I saw lots of crime scene photos. A uniformed officer would deliver the rolls of film. What convinces me that Upperbite is a mortician is the body processing and the casket photos. You wouldn’t see those in a crime photo.

However, a city like NYC would have their own photo lab. While the equipment is expensive, they would have enough volume to justify and amortize the expense.

We used to share the photos with the rest of the store employees when we came across naked pictures.

Today’s strip seems to make more sense if the top half and bottom half were reversed.

    Four things here:
    1) Bee should point her boss towards two potential commercial accounts, which would make him happy. Happy boss = employed Bee.
    2) The Russian didn’t fill out a processing bag. If Bee goes ahead and processes the film, the store is out that $$.
    3) If the Russian is indeed processing his own negatives, there is very little equipment to ‘break’. A reel or reels and a tank, all made of stainless steel. The only way to ‘break’ them is to sit on them. Even so, Bee’s store should have reels and tanks that he could buy – there would be no need for him to import them from Mother Russia. Reels are on the order of $5.00, a tank $15.00. You would pay more in shipping and customs to get them from Moscow.
    4) If the Russian is taking pictures of bodies, and is NOT affiliated with some government agency (which is what he’s claimed), but is instead some freelance photojournalist, I would keep a set of photos and clue in the cops or the FBI about this guy.

I worked at a photo developing place a long time ago. People would bring in pictures that would shame a lot of the XXX adult magazines of the times. We would know more about certain customers and their wives or girlfriends than they ever would think. The funny thing was that they all thought that nobody would look at their pictures. It was a fun 2 years working there.

I think it’s been established that Bee’s professional ethics are not quite up to snuff. That said, there’s a clue in the photograph; see if you can spot it before Bee does!

Since people are human and need stimulation I can see that happening no matter what the laws are.

They need to find out if this person is legitimate or not. I have no trouble following this story at all.
