pardon me, but what the hell is going on here?
Is this some kind of a story arc that you have to be aware of to understand?
I get the deal about a photo lab technician being privy (ha!) to strangers’ photos, but…..I’m not getting the point in this ‘slice of life’

We’re only two strips in, showing the character’s normal workday. Since there’s a definite plot (see the “About Shutterbug Follies” section to the right of the comments), the artist can afford to take a few pages before moving to the action.

it’s a graphic novel, you need to follow from the beginning. From what I’ve seen of it, there are some gruesome images and some R-rated material. But that doesn’t bother me, because I really like the story.

Interesting thus far; it draws one in. A fit neighbor for Skin Horse.

And we get tiny glimpses into other stories as well, The tired-looking cat lady, the proud father, the college sweethearts (I don’t think that relationship is going to last, Jake seems like a jerk) and the senior citizen biker (who might still be an undercover cop, but one who likes pictures of ladies with their tops off.)

they’re not out of order. Each panel is a photo taken by the customer in the immediate panel prior. It’s a storytelling technique and it’s brilliant to my admittedly brilliant-loving mind.

Agreed. They’re not out of order. It’s a day in the life of a photo developer tech.

So, if you don’t use Kodak paper, you get pictures that are pixilated?

How many times do you have to tell (fill in your name) a joke before they get it? Pay no attention to this if you’re under fifty.

No, you use Agfa, Konica or Fuji paper. I spent ten years doing what Bee’s doing (even though I was supposed to be sales) so I can tell that the strip of negatives is 400 speed Kodak and the blonde has Fujichrome (slide film) which as E6 process had to be sent out. Yes, we had biker cops and proud dads (she has a point too much blue correction for the baby).

No, we don’t LOOK at the photos (other than quality control) primarily because we don’t have time! Seen one, ya know…

Why is panel 1 all blurry?

  15. SKJAM!

@Ron, because GoComics is a"family" website and not allowed to show certain body parts, even in cartoon form.
