Maybe they can’t… That’s a major problem today with people waiting so long to have kids, or PID from STD infections, or genetic damage from pot and other drugs that affect DNA or RNA replication, or motility problems from any of a host of causes, etc.

Welcome to the 21st century, non-grandma. Not everything is about giving you grandkids anymore.

We might…very unlikely, though, be able to, but we both have a slew of health problems, especially me, and NOT from drugs, partying, or anything of the short. I’m pretty much depressed and broken up over the fact that I can’t / shouldn’t carry on the family line…and irked that my inlaws are apparently relieved.

@g55rumpy: Big business has made sure wisdom from anybody isn’t being passed down. Or reverence, or manners, or respect, or reasoning, etc. ad nauseam.

We have grandchildren(1 of each)but we would have liked at least two from each of our married daughters and I say ‘at least’ just as way of saying more than one.

For years my grandson, an only child, was thrilled to be the only grandchild. He wanted my undivided attention.
Now that he’s grown up, and I am about to marry a women with two sons and four grandchildren ( 2 boys in one family and 1 girl and 1 boy in the other ), I asked him what he thought about my having other grandchildren to spoil. He replied “That’s cool ! Just don’t lose my address on my birthday and Christmas.”

Just about everything you’ve said is nonsense. People need to talk to a genetics counselor. Those factors might increase the chances of defects, but do not prevent pregnancy.

“Big business has made sure wisdom from anybody isn’t being passed down.”

Especially the biggest corporation of them all – with 3 trillion in revenues, 16 trillion in liabilities, and another 16 trillion in undocumented loans through a shell company.

OR, maybe they just don’t want to leave the largest carbon footprint you can possibly leave on the planet…in any event, IT’S PERSONAL.
