Bucks County had exactly such a thing in the May 1983 primary election.
A non-binding referendum (PA does not have initiative/referendum/recall) asked if a pumping station should be built to transfer 95 million gallons of water every day from the Delaware River (the same creek that Washington crossed, but about 10 miles upstream) to a nuclear power plant along the Schuylkill River, about 40 miles west.
You had to “vote yes for no pumps.”
The pump was overwhelmingly voted down, yet it was built anyway.

That’s no canard, Linguist. That’s the fact.

Is there even a grain of truth between those lies?

\Just between the lies or does that include the ‘double talk’ when they talk for a half an hour and never ‘say’ anything. I getting to feel that politicians are worse than the criminals we have locked up in prison at least they admit they did it to ‘line their pockets’. Politicians steal and lie to us and tell us that they do it for the ‘public good’ or the ‘good of the country. I wish we had ’initiative and referendum’ on a national level that was binding so we could get rid of the crooks that we have in the Capitol Building in Washington! ! !

We can get rid of them, it is just that we have allowed ourselves to be bought off. As long as the goodies keep coming, we continue to vote for the candidate sending them.

Heck, the news media will invent their own lies if they feel that it is necessary.

And you clearly have tunnel vision. They all lie cheat, steal. And then there’s guys like Weiner & (Bill) Clinton.

@AshburnStadium, what a farce that “dump the pump” movement was! All the idiotic Bucks County voters succeeded in doing was block the part of the project that actually would have helped people in Bucks County. The contract with PECO was legally binding, and the water continues to flow down the Perkiomen. Where, for the sake of those unfamilair, it has made no noticable difference to the stream. Nor has it made any difference to the Delaware. But for the obvious presence of the Bradshaw reservoir, you would never know the project existed.

Let’s not forget ex-NY Gov Spitzer, most of Chicago pols, ALL of Detroit’ best and Boston’s worst. I’d pick on Omnius more, but I have to feel sorry for a rented donkey (dem symbol) with blinders on. (so they can only see the furrow ahead of them.)
