    My father was Salutatorian of his HS class, but they made him write up a book report of ‘Vanity Fair’ the night before graduation or he wouldn’t even be allowed to graduate.

    I’m sure there’s a paper I haven’t turned in. But whether I did or not, I wouldn’t travel 2000 miles to go to a reunion.

    He’s from the era when they had the theory of “passing everyone with their class.” The thought was the kids were traumatized by being held back.
