I have a cousin so many times removed from my restaurant it is impossible to count. He thinks because I run the restaurant he gets free food; and not the cheap items either. Next time I put an apron on him and shackle him to the scullery machine!

Relatives can be like that…it’s one thing to let them eat without making a profit on them, an’ quite another to let them mooch for free. They have to be sat down and shown the figures – an if that doesn’t work – then shown th’ door.

You can choose your friends, not your relatives….

I think a politician’s vote would be in the “for rent” section. They have a nasty tendency of not staying bought.

But you can choose whether to keep your relatives in your life. The amount of actual blood relatives I deal with is small. The “family” I have built out of friends, exes, and other loved ones past and present provides so much more joy and rewards.
Family are those who make you feel better when you are feeling lousy, and make you a better person just by being around them. At least that’s my feeling.

I agree…Relatives are relative but not absolute.
